Quick update:
I just noticed that both times it happened, there was pending updates. Update after hard power cycle from first freeze:
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081424)
And after the second time:
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081436)
Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3087916)
As a side note, both times my Nvidia driver nvlddmkm crashed on start up. Will look in to this a little further.
Hello all... I'm gonna throw my hat into this. I had exactly the same issue with one of my 3 Win 10 machines today - Silverlight. Uninstalled it and it now seems fine.
Best
EDIT: After writing that I found Silverlight to be the issue... I may have been wrong. Even though things really sped up afterwards, it took all of 2 more weeks for the guilty party to finally announce themselves. I had a faulty HDD. So, if suspect, have a look at the HDD as well.
I hope I didn't steer too many in the wrong direction.
Best

Same problem here, but not entirely random - can happen anytime, but happens frequently when I close a game, whether online or locally hosted. Totally freezes, no response to mouse or keyboard. Leave it for 10 minutes, nothing changes - hard restart is required. Event Viewer shows nothing. Updated drivers, still happens. Cleanup procedure describe earlier in this thread found no problems.
I'm thinking just have to wait for MS to fix this, or roll back to previous OS version. If anybody has anything that would help, though, I'd like to hear it.

Welcome! lol. Does your PC have a single HDD or multiple? I'm thinking this particular 'explorer' bug affects machines with multiple HDDs in them (possibly). If I'm right I wonder what would happen if did the upgrade with just your main HDD connected and then see if there was an issue. If not then connect the other HDDs back up and again see if the issue then arises. I'm just clutching at straws really. If I get some time I will do this on my PC and report the results.
2 with Raid 0.
( I also own a G75. This one does not freeze, but crashes randomly ( quite often ). 1 SSD & 1 HD. )
As for me, it freezes whether or not my USB drive is connected.
Hi, I have the same problem - Windows support, of course, could not help. This is my config:
ASUS N73JQ, Intel i7 Q740, Nvidia GT 425M. I added Corsair SSD F90 as second drive when I bought the laptop.
Windows 7 worked flawlessly but Win 10 freezes in the same way - sometimes it freezes on user login, sometimes after several minutes and sometimes it works for several hours without any freeze. I`ve tried clear reinstall of Win10 on formatted primary HDD, but it froze even before I installed anything. It also froze in safe mode. It froze with Nvidia last drivers (355.60), also with drivers from 29.7. and with older drivers from default Microsoft installation too. I`ve tried upgrading my BIOS to latest version, but didn`t help neither.
I`ve also tried to physically disconnect my secondary drive - Corsair SSD - it seems to work so far (2 hours), but it also might be a case when it doesn`t freeze for several hours and it will tomorrow on startup. Anyway, if disconnecting secondary drive works for someone else, this might be temporary solution.Edit: Nevermind, it froze after restart...
What do you mean by explorer bug? Where can I find more info about this or a solution? Thank you
