    Greetings,

I have made it a rule that I don’t ever post in forum threads. But the instability of windows 10 for me and 85 pages of this thread and the complicated nature of this issue, I feel that what I have in my event viewer is important in sharing. if I have made an error in my judgment here please let me know and I will cease my dribble.

I am a computer equipment technician by trade and not a software person. I have been experiencing the same freezing as everyone else in the list and have tried the following: (will append as i remember)

    changing my power profile,
    winsxs,
    turning off windows firewall
    turning off windows defender
    turning off windows update

using a clean install, and anything else I can’t remember after 2 weeks of trying things in this list.

In the morning hours at 09/03/2017 0425 my computer froze. When I got on at 0830 I found that the 2 windows I had left open, the event viewer and a this webpage on page 11, I could not access but explorer would respond as well as my keyboard and mouse. In the event viewer, I discovered 14 errors of source sidebyside event ID 9, as well as error 33.

I don't know if my information is something important enough to share, but i feel it might.

I can provide my event view details upon request i just wanted to make sure that what i have is valid enough be for posting such a long list of data.

    Regards,

As a side note, I play Morrowind and have been adding mod files to the game folder. I have been opening zip files with 7zip and coping them to the data file folder it is during this copying that my computer is freezing
Hi seaeagle, event 33 is HW error, I get that a lot when OC goes wrong. You can get details if you double click on an event. If you are sure that your HW is OK, you could try running system checks first:
sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth as well as diskcheck.

I have been looking at my event log and have noticed that i have 280 events of error 225 and then a crash that did not log, not sure if that helps.

    turning off windows firewall
    turning off windows defender
    turning off windows update
    using a clean install

Well i went ahead and did the following:

    enabled windows firewall
    enabled windows defender
tried to disable the c1 something stated in my bios...no effect
    diabled BITS....computer froze...re-enabled BITS

no my tests have failed. nothing in this stream of suggestions in this thread has had any effect what so ever
I am starting to lean to buying a copy of windows 7 just for stability and sanity

if there is some data that you guys want to see let me know before i reformat and reinstall Vista/Win7

"I also have noticed that my pc tends to freeze while copying files from a 7zip file to a secondary harddrive", check that HDD good. Checkdisk, Download Hard Disk Sentinel and/or test program from disk's manufacturer.

Does it do that just for a few seconds, then take off normally?

    Greetings,

This is just an update, and I am still downgrading to windows 7 for the stability. I thought I would give you guys something else to chew on.

I found my fan was caked. Cleaned it and it now just freezes for only a few secs to mins instead of completely requiring a hard reset, but when it comes back it usually closes all opened file viewers and resets explorer.

    regards,
