    The unplugging a fan was a bust... sortof... still freezing... but freezing more often..... however... CPU and MB seem to be running COOLER with one less fan, and overall smoother and actually a bit faster. I'm wondering if I should enable the Dynamic Processor Ticks again at this point as maybe that wasn't the problem (doesn't seem to be) and maybe the fan was the issue.

    So I just rebooted out of running memtest for nearly 4.5 hours. That is at least 3 hours longer than this PC has ever run without Freezing. As you may know memtest boots of a CD (or usb). So it wasn't using Windows 10. So this would seem to point that the problem is indeed something with WIndows 10.

    FWIW... It froze once doing this short post....

    Yesterday every time it froze, when restarted, I ran HWInfo and started the logging. In examining the logs, there was nothing of note as it approached the freeze point (last entry) on each log.

    This is very perplexing. I really don't know what to do. I can't work. It seems silly to throw out a new PC, not to mention it's a DAW (although I haven't been able to use it that way yet)... At least a dozen pieces of registered software that needs to be calibrated and that interact with each other, not to mention I'll have to unregister them from this computer before I re-install them... I learned that mistake the first time. Just a royal pain. In thinking back.. I had some issues with Windows 10 install "freezing" at certain points after the "installing windows 10" section and it took three or four attempts to actually complete the install.. I feel silly now, but I didn't realize it wasn't the "install" just freezing for whatever reason... the PC was actually freezing then, and not just an "install" glitch.

    In my area there are several pc repair shops that offer free estimates, they run diagnostic tests and then they tell me what the issue is and I then decide weather to pay to have it fixed or take it home and repair it myself.

    Hi, Last weeks i noticed some bad behavior of my computer, i start to have hardlocks sometimes by doing simple tasks like open browser and watch a video. These freezes are related to "Kernel-Processor-Power Event 54 - task 39"

    some information:
    i have the last firmware flashed on my uefi, the 3.0 version downloaded and installed from uefi
    i also have the last updates instaled on windows 10 x64 (not the ones from insider preview)
    i have checked my windows files with SFC and DISM Commands, there is no errors on my installation
    i have checked for malware and virus, to be 100% sure there is nothing that can harm and cause the freezing, it's clean
    all my drivers are updated and unused stuff like onboard lan and realtek audio are disabled
    my processor power saving settings on windows 10 are set to performance, 100% usage all time
    My processor OC is stable, i work with 3d rendering and gaming on this machine and never had problems
    i also ran memtest and didn't found a single error
    i remove my memory sticks from mobo and put they again

    my computer is:
    asrock x99x killer
    intel core i7 5820k
    16gb ram ripjaws

    i don't do any extreme overclocking, i use the uefi 4ghz preset with xmp, i have 100% sure this is a windows thing because i didnīt had these issues too often like i was facing from ~may 2016 to now. Start get some BSOD here and there, now is the freezings

    things what i tried recently:
    downgrade uefi to 2.10 firware
    upgrade the uefi to 3.02a beta (recomendation of asrock forum moderator)
    clear CMOS by change the jumper position

    No luck, i really running out of ideas here, things i going try next: join the insider preview and download the windows aniversary
    this start annoying me because i can't full work without get worried if i will lose my work by stupid windows freezings... happens twice last week and once this week already.

    Edit: installed the win10 anniversary from insider preview, then left the program
    let's see if i still get hardlocks, until now things looks fine, but lets see this week how computer will perform

    i will post updates

    EDIT: installed windows 10 anniversary and... freezing continues, had one yesterday at night

    what left try? one beta bios to update (x99x 3.10) or format and clean install, this going to take me days to reinstall all my stuff, but better than having a computer that freeze randomly and keep loosing work.

    Okay, I think I'm onto something. I was watching my Resource Monitor on the CPU tab, just kinda staring blindly if truth be told, and noticed that CPU's 2 and 3 were intermittently going "parked." Long story short, I did a little research and while this may be "ok" on a laptop on battery, there doesn't seem to be a need to do this on a PC. In fact once I "unparked" all CPU's and rebooted, I noticed my temperatures were all a bit lower and all of the CPU's were running at lower % useage... kinda obvious if you think about it.

    Now there were several instructions for "unparking" which is primarily related to Windows 7, but still work in WIndows 10. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND GOOGLE UNPARKING CPU IN WINDOWS 10. I chose the lazy way of just grabbing an App called Unpark-CPU-App. Now I can't recommend this yet (or ever) as I'm not sure it's the solution, but I have been watching videos, on facebook, checking mail etc.. for the past hour which is longer than I have been able to do anything most of the past several days. I'm watching the Resource Monitor windows on the CPU tab, and things idle MUCH lower across the board (cpu, memory, wifi) than they did before and of course, no more intermittent CPU parking.

    This app lets you Unpark and Park, and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!! The author recommends trying the newer "Beta" version, but I used the more simple older version that has a simple "UNPARK ALL" button.

    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK - This UTILITY makes a change to the Registry

    Good luck to us all.. http://www.coderbag.com/programming-...arking-utility

    Two hours in.... froze... I didn't notice that CPU was slowed slightly so while I don't really know much about OVERclocking, I set the bios settings to "manual" and then selected what appeared to be the default settings. Not sure what this will do... maybe nothing. Just pulling straws at this point.

    I don't want to jinx it, but I think we may have a winner.

    I found a reference that suggested turning off C-States in the BIOS. You can google the details, but unlike OVERClocking, these are the states of "reduced" CPU power. The options are somewhat buried in the BIOS under CPU configuration, and it may not be the best thing to do on a Laptop, but I have a desktop.

    So far since setting to disable them, over SIX hours of up time. Fingers crossed, the longest average up time before a freeze before this change was about 1.5 hours.

    Also, I did an sfc /scannow and if found files to repair. I know this didn't correct the freezing, as I had done it before, but my guess is that files got corrupted during any one or more of the many freezes, so running this every now and then after a freeze is a good idea.

    what are your PC specs?
    these are mine(its a newgaming pc i built)
    AMD FX-9590 VISHERA 8-CORE 4.7 GHz 220W == CPU
    XFX RADEON R9390X DIRECTX 12 8GB 512-BIT GDDR5 == Graphics Card
    ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR FORMULA Z AM3+ 6GB/S ==MotherBoard
    G.SKILL RIPJAWS Z SERIES 32GB (4*8GB) == Memory
    EVGA 220-GS-1050-V1 80 PLUS GOLD 1050w
    I KNOW FOR SURE THAT(EdIt posted too early): my pc would have performance issues if i didnt supply proper power and resources for functioning. it has yet to crash since i changed the power settings.
    let me know
    Our PC's are almost identical. I FINALLY found this thread last night and it worked for me. I have done the millions of scans, changes etc and finally a solution. Ive done the stats and it worked,

    http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/...ompletely.html

    In my bios settings, CiE was already disabled, so I disabled C6 ..saved and restarted. bam. not one freeze.
