I read all the post because at my work we have at least 5 computers with hangs since de win10 upgrade from 8.1
In my pc i "solve" the hangs running the task manager, selecting "always visible" and moving to a border of desktop.
Not one hang with the task manager running....

    I upgraded my

    ASUS P5Q PRO TURBO
    Q9550
    8 GIGS of RAM
    Corsair Foce GT SSD
    750TI Video Card

to Windows 10 earlier this week and was getting freeze up (which seemed to only happen during a cold boot) with no BSOD requiring a reset. Finally figure out what was causing it - it was the "ENHANCED C-STATES" on the BIOS. If I have it enabled, problem happens, if I don't, - works just fine.

SPEEDSTEP and C1E is enabled though.

I just my first freeze today.

I was downloading Battlefield 4, and my wireless adapter stopped responding. I unplugged and plugged it back in, it was fine, until I plugged another wireless adapter into the USB 3.0 Port. It was an older zyxel G wireless adapter. After doing a hard reset, I was able to plug in the zyxel adapter, it worked, but caused my mouse to have weird pauses, froze up for about 10 seconds, and resumed.

My netgear WNA3100 doesn't work right as it screws up and loses connection to the Motherboard. Going to buy a new wireless adapter

Just jumped to share what has helped me (now they appear very rarely, once a few days ).

I did an upgrade of Win7 to Win10. Right after the upgrade I used to have micro freezes (<0.5 sec) a few time per hour, randomly. Especially noise buzzing was annoying when a movie or song on youtube playing. I tried a lot of combinations of different tweaks and fixes, but the one seems to have fixed the issue. At least for me.

I have an old Radeon HD 4350 vcard and I use an ancient ATI's driver. It's 10.4 with CCC. ATI's support of old vcards for Win10 is another story. So no ramblings here. Just want to point out that I blocked Windows to update ATI vcard driver to the latest one with "hide" new updates by "Windows Update MiniTool".

So I decided that it's time to try to install optional updates that Win10 didn't install for some reasons. I found out that a driver for "ATK for support of ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY" was dated 2010, but MS has a new one for 2012. After installation of the driver (it seems that it's somehow related to ASUS MoBos A.I., some power management features???) the issue appears rarely.

You can download my updated tutorial, which includes detailed instructions on how to investigate lock-up events and blue screen events:
I updated this tutorial on May 7. Haven't had a freeze for 6 months and BSOD for two months. BSODs happen only if I install some incompatible software.

This was the way how i was getting rid of the random freezes. As for now, my Laptop has almost 7 hours uptime with out any issue. (Try'd to force it by the apps where it would occour by 100%)

    Have Fun.

You don't say what hardware you have. There seems to be a problem with some Intel Skylake cpu:s. Most have problems under heavy load but My computer froze under very light condition. I've experienced two freezes in a month now. Only a hardware reset helped to reboot the machine.

I have a MSI with Intel i7 6700 Skylake cpu. Som have reported freezes also with Linux on these cpu:s. Apparently Intel knows about their cpu bug and are investigating it.

I have four computers with W10 and only the new MSI (with i7 6700 Skylake) has these problems. The other computers have been stable with no issues what so ever. All have different Intel cpu:s.

Edit: After many W10 updates my MSI system is now stable. No lockups or other major problems.

Hi! I have been getting these random freezes a couple of times now which locks up the entire system and forces me to do a hard restart and i have tried EVERYTHING to resolve it, but no luck. I tried updating all drivers to the newest, did a sfc /scannow which repaired all the corrupt files, firmware update of HDD and defragging the HDD.
I know there is nothing wrong with my hardware because this ONLY happens in Windows 10 and not in Windows 8.1. This is the 2nd time i'm installing Windows 10 to see if the issue was resolved somehow, but nope. Also tried with a upgrade and with a clean install 2 times.

Does anyone have any tips or fixes for this? It's really starting to drive me crazy..

Interesting. I've got Asus z170-a pro-gaming with a 6600k, OS on SSD, backed up data on separate internal HDD.
    Logitech G500 gaming mouse.
Since a few months ago I've been getting seemingly random freezes (not BSOD), but only while gaming.
It turned into BSODs after making some system adjustments, so completely deleted/formatted the drive a few days ago.

Haven't seen a BSOD since, but just a couple minutes ago (while using firefox with a few tabs open), downloading star citizen and having a very light UE4 project open, the pc just froze. I've got windows power management set to high performance jffs.

I noticed the light on the mouse and the keyboard were off, but all the case fans were spinning as normal and the monitor was on. Event viewer and reliability monitor didn't report any system failures, though UE4 did report an APPCRASH.
