Protection Shield

I really need to know how to get the Protection Shield on my taskbar.

Please help.

By default the Defender 'shield' icon on the taskbar is in the 'hidden icons' section. You can click the ^ 'show hidden icons' then click and drag it onto the taskbar.

I finally got the shield on the taskbar but when I turn off Defender, it does NOT show the red X like it should.
