Good luck getting it fixed. You obviously don't want help with an attitude like that.

If I were you, I would first uninstall "Classic Start Menu" to see if that's the reason and second, I would be more polite to people trying to help.

Thanks HeM. I did uninstall Classic Start menu shortly after my post about it four days ago. But the problem remained so I re-installed it.

I then spent the best part of two days trouble-shooting it, plus other symptoms of trouble that emerged, including the Windows 'Apps' not working.

Eventually I solved it on Thursday night. For anyone else that ends up here with similar problems, I fixed it by opening an elevated Powershell window and using this command:

    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode
    -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"

    --------------------

Turning to pepanee's comments arising from my earlier reply. "You plainly don’t bother to read before you rattle off your replies" was just a statement of fact. Turning the tables, I would say it's 'impolite' not to bother reading a questioner's carefully prepared posts or screenshots. At best, twice asking for basic information that has already been provided is evidence of rude laziness.
