    windows search priority

When I do a windows search for "Word" its not the first hit on the list. IE if I hit the windows key, then type in "word", the office program Word is actually the second on the list, with Keepass being the first. I get it that Keepass is a passWORD manager, but come on I'm tying in the entire name of a Microsoft Program!

I know their has to be a fix for this and I am hoping someone much smarter than I can point me to it.

    thanks in advanced!

Just select "Word" and launch it, after some times you keep launching word after you type "word" the search engine will learn an will put "Word" as the first option.

    HTH.

I was afraid of that. I dont use the program that often and probably 90% of the time I just type in word and hit enter, then have to try again after KeePass launches, so their is already some bad info stored in there I will need to undo. Hopefully it wont take too many attempts before it fixes the order.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm off to launch word a few dozen times with my fingers crossed

Put an icon for Word in the Taskbar? I have icons for the programs I use most often there.

If you don't use it very often, you could pin the Word tile in the Tiles section of the Start Menu.

One feature I seem to use a lot is to open a program then with its icon on the Taskbar right-click it and choose Pin to Start and/or Pin to Taskbar. Using Pin to Start tends to create the Tile.

For Cortana, you will need a unique designation if there are numerous possible matches.
I didn't get my dummy Word shortcut listed by Cortana at all, although it was present in Win 10's start menu.

For Classic/Open Shell start menu, it's a little easier although not ideal.

Specifying its search to NOT do partial string matches gives that.

Allowing partial string matches gives more results. (Now you can see my dummy keepass shortcut)

Even using e.g. ^word (where in some contexts that means 'at the beginning of the line' doesn't help.

Another problem is that since 1803 search results are full of web search results that steal space to what i'm actually looking for (my files in my computer), sadly ms focus is to gather data nowadays, so those web results are mandatory.
Luckily I can use Ubuntu and search results are fast and sharp.

Presumably you're referring to Cortana/task bar box search.

Try Winaero's free tweaker- read the explanation.. given the unpredictability of functions in builds, it may or may not work.. try it!

Use Classic/Open shell and you've a number of choices as to what is searched for. e.g. you can include each of web results, file results, Settings..... or not.
