Prevent Explorer grouping folders and files separately

    Hi,

There are lots of forum posts about people wanting to have folders always on top. I have the opposite problem: I DON'T want folders on top.
If I arrange a directory by Name, Date modified, Type, Size etc. then the folders are always kept together - I don't want this. If I arrange by Name then I want everything in alphabetical order, regardless of whether it's a folder or not.

I am not using the "Group by" function - I am simply in Details view.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Hi, some ideas here:
How can I arrange files and folders alphabetically (Windows Explorer) - Windows 7 Help Forums

-including using Freecommander - freeware file manager.

This suggests a workaround using file explorer:
view folders and files together in alphabetical order instead of - Microsoft Community
In Windows Explorer, simply type an asterisk into the search window to return all files and folders within the parent folder. You can then click on any column header to sort the results by that column.
    Please read through for more.

Windows Explorer sorts files and folders separately - Super User

You're welcome - there is a workaround shown in my post. Not ideal of course.
