    Mouse cursor too big

    Hi all,

Mouse cursor in Windows 10 scales with the display size. If we go to display -> scale and layout, and we set 100, 125, 150% etc size we get the respected pointer size - the bigger the size the larger the mouse cursor. This is quite logical except when we want to to adjust the size of the mouse cursor independently of the display size and make it smaller - no such option.

I wondered if any of you knows some registry key for where we can specify the mouse pointer scale ratio, so that we could have 200% font and 125% mouse cursor size for example.

    Thank you for reading.

Hello ekeda, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You might see if changing the mouse pointer size using an option in the tutorial below may work to get the size you want.

    Hi Brink,

The problem is I want to scale the cursor differently. I can always make it smaller/larger/whatever by using a different .cur model.

When you select 125% size the cursor is X size.
When you select 150% size the cursor becomes X * Y size.

I want to adjust that Y value somehow.

I'm not aware of a way to change the size for that.

Me, either. Only time I have seen it happen the user had set the resolution wrong and it threw everything out of whack, the ratio wasn't correct for the monitor and round wasn't round, more oval or egg-shaped. The main resolutions used by Windows are 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 [wide by tall]. The 4:3 ratio was for the typical CRT and CRT Flat Screen monitors and early LCD Flat Panel monitors while 16:9 and 16:10 are typically for the newer LCD or LED Wide Screen monitors.

Possible answer. Would take some finagling. Make a copy of the cursor in question. Edit it with any good image editor, and resize the x/y ratio. Save as type .cur and copy back into windows/cursors folder.

Ok, seems like there is no option for that. Maybe there could exist a hack to completely disable the mouse pointer scaling. I have to dig more in that direction.
