    Windows File Explorer window keeps resizing to default


    Hello,

    My File Explorer keeps resizing my window to the default small square box size, which is really annoying when I make it different after closing FE it just gets resized back to default.     The screenshot with the RED color is the default size it always resets to, the one with the BLUE color is the way I want the screen to be (stretched out in hight), but whenever I do that and close file explorer (by pressing the X) and re-opening it it just resets back to the RED one.

    Any help I can get with this problem? and stop it from changing.

    When you're setting wanted window size, do you stretch it from top to bottom?

    Try to set the size few pixels smaller than full height.

    This fix will erase all saved File Explorer window positions.
    After the fix, you can resize your windows and they will work.

    1) Go to: Reset Folder View Settings to Default in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
    2) Under Option One, press the Download button for: Reset_Folder_View_Settings_of_All_Folders_to_Default.bat
    3) Run that file

    You used to be able to hold the Ctrl key and click the Close button (X) and Windows would remember the size of the window.

    I'm not sure if that still works in W10.

    This seems to be the problem, when I set the size a bit smaller as you said it works and saves, but whenever I try to do it full height it doesn't work. Really weird why thats happening.

    I'm nagging Microsoft about this (not with explorer, but Edge) for years now. Guess they won't change it.

    Just make the window few pixels smaller and it'll stick.

    And send feedback to MS. If you post a link to your feedback, I'll upvote it.

    No need for Ctrl.. Problem is, if you set a height from top to bottom, next start will be in the default size. Otherwise it's working fine.

    Maybe I've always had glitchy installs.

    My windows would always return to the default size unless I used that trick.

    Are you extending the window to taskbar? If so, then it's completely normal. Resize the window to a few pixels above the taskbar.
