    unstable windows recently

    Hi

My windows system has been acting weird lately, the main things I have noticed:

1- The mouse stutters and glitches and double-clicks randomly.
2- The thumbnails never show in windows explorer when I view the files in larger than "small icon".
3- In my computer's history log, apparently there is a "hardware error" but I don't know how to detect it.

Hi ARGMAN. Welcome to the Tenforums @ARGMAN

Click on Start, type reliability history, should appear top of list. Click on it once.

In the lower portion it should show you the event. Double click on the event. It should provide you with details which you can copy and paste in a posting. On screen shot.

This may allow a member to assist.

Did you add any new hardware or software around the time this started?

If you click Start > Settings > Update and Security > View Update History

Are there any updates installed that coincide with the start. At the bottom of that view it will list drivers. Any drivers installed?

If you open device manager, any devices with an Exclamation mark or Question mark?

Please click on one of these so everyone can see details.

Looks like you got a lot of updates.

If you click on this red X and then get details below. (click on view details) This is when issue started and it would appear to be a month ago.

I'm suspecting a driver was installed. Can you produce a screen print of your driver updayes from Windows Update history.

Interesting. When did you install this app. ?

This is from Oct 4, 2018 and the first App error was around Sept 16/18. If you didn't install this app then waht other changes could have been made?

Lets see what these windows error are then.

Please click on this red x and the one beside it. What are these windows errors.

    Hello

This is an old dictionary that I've installed a very long time ago and thought it was removed only to discover today -when you incidentally made me notice- that it is still there so I installed and rebooted twice. But it is the same!

Here are the errors for the other ones:

If you could open device manager, find you display adapter, right click, properties, click on Details tab, in the property box set it to "Install date". When was it installed. If more than one adapter check dates on both.

That last error looks like a BSOD, bug check 1A.

Right click start, click run, type sysdm.cpl, enter, click on Advance Tab. In the startup and recovery box click settings, remove the check mark beside the line "Automatically Restart". This will let you see BSOD, error codes and potential drivers. You will have to power down and on to restart windows but at least you will see it happening. If your box has a reset button that will also restart it.

If you could please go to the Windows Update history, have any new drivers been installed since Oct 14, 2018?

1- The install date is 23-May-2018
2- The last drive installed is "MediaTek Preloader" installed on ‎03-‎Aug-‎18
3- I have no idea what BSOD or A1 is but I will try it now
