    New Laptop-Windows 10 Home-Missing directory-Finger slip on mouse

New Laptop-Windows 10 Home-Missing directory-Finger slip on mouse.Hi, I Clicked on a subdirectory located on an external 1Tb HDD formatted NTFS called "Old cellphone photos", my finger like pulsed on the mouse not sure what happened, resulting in the directory went missing.I looked on ext HDD, main drive C, recycle bin, used search on each, unhide all files and searched again, its just nowhere to be found, I know it was there I specifically clicked on it.Has anybody experienced something similar-?

I have done similar things, but I've always been able to relocate the files and folder. Usually, I find them in a nearby folder when I made a bad drag and drop with the mouse.

Not sure what search tools you are using.

I'd probably download the Everything search tool from voidtools.com.

It will very quickly find any file on any drive IF, I say IF, you can remember a file name for any of the lost files, or at least part of a file name.

I think it's possible to delete files and folders without sending them to the recycle bin if you have deliberately made such a configuration choice. Have you knowingly made such a choice--for any drive?

There was a similar quite recent thread- nothing recovered as far as I know.. sorry.

You can try recovery tools like Recuva (use deep scan too).

No I never made such a choice, I am aware of doing it on the recycle bin properties for external drive, but both laptop is new & and the drive, I never made such a choice on this one, will go and have a look at recycle bin properties when this drive is plugged in.

What I wuld like to know if theres any combination of move by the mouse that could invoke this-?

There's the difference between select, single click and drag, double click... left click vs rt click- which button? SHIFT + click.. other button combinations if you have a posh multi-button mouse..

    Hopefully you have a backup..
