    No Boot Device Found


    A month or so ago I started getting "No Boot Device Found, Press any Key to reboot machine". I have a Dell Inspiron 13 5000 series laptop with 256G SSD.
    After the message appears, I press a key to reboot then start banging on F12 until I get to what looks like a bios setup with the following options:

    Legacy Boot
    Internal HDD
    UEFI Boot
    Windows Boot Manager
    Other Options

    Internal HDD is highlighted. If I down-arrow to Windows Boot manager and hit enter, the machine boots fine.

    One of the Other Options is Change Boot Mode Setting. Selecting that gets me to a set of options that include Legacy Boot, UEFI Boot not secure, and UEFI Boot secure. I started the UEFI Boot not secure but the dire warnings caused me to back off.

    Question: Can I safely select one of the UEFI Boot modes and if so which one?

    Welcome to the forum. To advise you weneed a screenshot from disk manager showing all the details s we can see if its uefi or mbr disk

    Any of the options can be tried by trial and error.
    See if you have an option for UEFI hybrid with CSM.
    Also see what happens if you turn off secure boot.
    Drives are either BIOS/MBR or UEFI/GPT.
    UEFI is benchmark faster and has a higher level or protection for security.

    Once you get the boot problem solved you can convert MBR to GPT if desired.

    Could be a bad connection - check the security of the power and data leads to the SSD if you know how to access it.

    You should use UEFI Boot, either secure or not secure is fine. Not secure makes it easier to boot to a UEFI flash drive, EDIT:Windows to Go, etc. Secure makes booting to an external device more difficult.

    Included are screen shots of my Dell Inspiron 13-5368 so you can see what my settings currently are.
