Buying a tablet with windows 10

I have an old heavy laptop but I don't want to lug it around so I want to buy a Windows 10 tablet under $250 because I hardly go anywhere so I just need something with a USB 3 to plug in my Passport Hard Drive where all my data is at. Can anyone recommend something because I really don't know anything about tablets.

I like my Nextbook Flexx. The only issue I have had with it is that the connection between the tablet and keyboard is not real solid and it has a tendency to disconnect randomly. I don't know if they have fixed that with newer models or not, though.

I also would not hesitate to buy an Asus:

Tablets are for hypertension and stuff, not computing... small lappies are not that cumbersome?

EDIT: you can't upgrade the stuff with RAM, SSD etc.. which means you get annoyed and hypertension anyway, right?

I have an 8" Windows Tablet and an 11" convertible (notebook & tablet) running Windows 10. In my opinion, an 8" tablet is too small to use the Windows Desktop and serious programs (such as Office) on, unless you are using a mouse. Windows store apps are fine, if you can find any worth using. Games from the store are fine on it.

My tablet has a 32 GB storage drive, to which I added a 32 GB card for data. I have had to reinstall Windows a couple of times because Windows keeps growing in size. (32GB is barely big enough for a bare install, because only about 25 GB of the 32 is available. You will also want 4 GB of ram. Laptops usually only have 1 or 2 mini-USB ports or 1 of the newer types of USB. You will probably need an adapter to connect your external drive. My tablet has 1 USB, which is used for charging. Means I can't plug anything else in while I'm charging. When I was looking for a new tablet a few months ago, I couldn't find any (pure tablets) that met my specs. 10 screen, 4 GB ram, 64 GB storage, 2 USB ports, under $400.00.

My convertible has 11" screen, 4 GB ram, 500 GB HD, 3USB ports for around $350. It is definitely heavier than a tablet and has a brick type power supply, but its very usable. Runs all Windows programs and can use it as a tablet if I ever wanted to.

    Hope this helps.
