Windows 10 - Oct 2018 Update: Dark mode has filenames also in dark

    Hello,

I had updated Windows with the Oct-2018 updates, as I was so excited for the Dark mode of windows coming up.
But all my excitement went down the drain, when some of the folders (and incidentally, folders which are important to me) has all the filenames and folders also in a dark mode, which render it unreadable at all.
I reverted back to the Light mode and enabled dark mode again, but still the problem occurred.
Did anyone else seen this problem? Is there any remedy for this?
See the screenshot of the folder below, of what I mean:

Hi rvipinkumar. Welcome to the TenForums @rvipinkumar

By chance are you running any other display changes, in particular a specific Window Theme?

Any chance you made may have made a registry change previously that has not been reversed?

Is your video driver up to date?

I have not seen this error before, but it could have been reported by others. I also did not see on Google. I did see where another member turned it on but it didn't actually work as expected but it was not the same error as you.

If none of the above helps please ensure you report the issue on the feedback hub,

    No registry changes were made.
Video driver is up to date
There have been reports of this and people had reported it (Have seen it in another forum, but not able to find it now). They had been advised to run a command: sfc /scannow but it didn't made any difference to my machine.

As a matter of fact, there's a 3rd party program that is really useful instead of going and doing the dark mode thing. This app lowers the brightness of everything on the screen, and very simple to use. Once you want your screen to go back to it's original brightness, just exit out of the program.

I only recommend this if you have your data totally backed up and off machine.

If you have boot media for V1809 you could try the inplace repair. It is a non destructive process, retains data and programs, but I always recommend a backup. Compounding this recommendation are the reports of missing data around the early release of 1809.
