How to scan/print sensitive documents and upload them?

For this issue, i want to be able to print document, sign it and fill out some information in it, have it scanned... so i could send it via email. If i had a printer/scanner with me at the moment, this is simple. But im not in the US at the moment. So i have to use a public computer and maybe scanner.



Last year when i did this, i know went to the public computer place to print out those documents by using a new gmail account i created so i have those documents sent to that gmail account, then log in with my password and printed it out. Then i signed those documents and filled it out but what i don't remember was how did i get those documents scanned where i was able to send them via email.



Because if i had the ppl at that computer place scan it for me, they had to have put it in a usb of mine and then i plugged that usb into their computers, then send those documents from the dummy gmail account to my real gmail account. Then i send from my gmail account to the person i need to send it to you. But i dont think i did this last year.



I want to know can i print those documents from the computer place and sign them and fill them out, then take a picture of it with say my iphone, then scan it that way so i could send that to my email and then ultimately to the person i want to send to.

If the final recipient of the document is willing to accept a picture of the document instead of a scanned copy of it, I see no reason why not. That will have to be determined by all parties involved on your end. Ask the final recipient if it is acceptable, and go from there.

How about the place you go to that will scan it..... have them email it to you. Your real one or a dummy fake you make up for one-time use. If they can scan it and put it on a thumb drive, they already have the image on their computer as soon as they scan it. Have the guy use the SAME computer to send you an email and the scanned document as an attachment.

You stated multiple times you are afraid to have them put it on a USB thumb for fear of viruses. I don't know anything about the setup of who you are using or where their computer is or what they did or can do. I also do not know anything about iPhone scanner apps or what they can or cannot do.

If you did that before, why not do it again and get it over with?

I do have a 2nd laptop though that i use for web browsing and personal use which i would not mind plugging that usb drive into... because its a chromebook.


So if i were to format that usb drive, i would be connecting it to chromebook and doing it. I would not be concerned of virus/malware because i connect it to chromebook... if there are issues with it to my chromebook, i know i can factory restore and it would be like new.

Well like you said earlier... they would have a copy of it on their computer that does the scanning? I think they do delete it right afterwards when they scan it. But say they delete it, its in recycle bin and then don't delete it there etc.. Thus the point is i wouldnt want my documents on another computer which is the whole purpose of this.


So i want to know, is it possible to take picture and scan with my iphone after i print these documented from the computer place.


Like any apps i can do this with on the iphone. Like camscanner or anything like that.

Let's clear up a couple of points.

1) I mentioned they would have a copy on their computer because they would, however temporarily, it would be there. That would be the copy they could email to you. But you have rejected that option, so let's forget all that.

2) I mentioned before I know nothing about iPhone scanner apps, their function, or what they produce or in what form. My best guess (...and ONLY a guess) is it's a picture, because I have never seen any smart phone, iPhone or otherwise, with a real scanner-type attachment. It may exist, I've never seen or heard of one. I know you can "scan" checks to deposit them in your bank, but that's simply having the OCR read and interpreted by the Bank App. Not a real, true scanned document.

3) If you are comfortable with the USB method using your Chromebook, then do that.

I don't have any more suggestions. Security is important, very important in today's world, but to get done what you need, you have to do something. It's impossible to go thru life avoiding 100% of all risk everywhere all the time.

Sign the document in Acrobat and then place in a cloud drive with the file shared with whomever is handling that stuff. If you have a preparer, they are a Proxy for you and can take responsibility for those documents after you review. Adobe offers secured cloud storage for free.
