R-Clicking on a file while moving the mouse gives different menu

When I R-click on a file I get this menu:

R-Clicking on a file while moving the mouse gives different menu-screenshot_1.png

But if I accidentally move the mouse while R-clicking the same file I get this menu:

R-Clicking on a file while moving the mouse gives different menu-screenshot_2.png

What's up with that? Why would I ever want to see the smaller menu? Why would Windows programmers build this in? Can I change a setting so I never see the smaller menu?

    Thanks!

    Hey ObjectNull,
AFAIK, that's normal and I get the same behavior. When you right click on a file and move the mouse windows thinks your initiating a drag/drop and the menu changes.

Ah, gotcha. Can I turn this off? It's really annoying.

Darn. I'm new to Windows so I'm still discovering things about it. It makes sense now that I know it's not a glitch but is still something I'd rather not have since I accidentally activate it a lot .

Tip: If you get that, keep the right mouse button pressed and hit Esc and it will go away with no harm done

    ObjectNull:

That's something new that you'd have to get used to. Whenever you want to right click on an item,
    1) Move the mouse to where you want it
    2) Wait until your hand has completely stopped moving
    3) Then right click on the object

I'd say you'd have to make a habit of that. It's something new that you need to train yourself to do.

In the Windows Registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop,
there are 2 Strings in the right hand side pane: DragHeight and DragWidth, their default values are both 4,
if you change the value of each to 20 or 30, that should steer you clear of any slight, accidental mouse movement.
(Sign out and Sign in for changes to take effect)

Bear in mind, if you want to use the feature, or, legitimately move an item, (left click/drag), you'll have to drag it farther than 20 or 30 pixels away to regain the feature!

This also applies to application windows, so, if you've grown accustom to maximizing and restoring down windows by dragging the header to the edge of your screen, and vise versa, you may find it an annoyance if you set the values too high!

    For what it's worth...

The aforementioned also applies when dragging to select or multi-select...
