Win 10 1809 - mouse autoclicking on windows

I updated to win update 1809.

Since then windows autoselect when I accidentally put my cursor on them. I do not want to do this it is driving me round the bend.

I have even tried a registry entry to stop the hover but to no avail.

The other thing that happens is when I right click on an entry in the task bar the menu shows but when I put my mouse on the menu disappears.
I have searched the internet but found no solution. Everything was fine until the update.

    Can anyone help please?

This sounds like this bottom setting:

Note -this is from the Control Panel Ease of Access in 1709. You will need to find the equivalent in 1809 which may be differently presented.

    To be clear.

If I have two windows open on my PC, say one on top of the other one if my cursor accidentally touches the other window it will move to the front. It does not stay there but it is so irritating. I think it's called autoclick but I can't find anywhere to turn it off or even find it.

I understand perfectly what you are describing. The setting I have shown you is exactly and precisely relevant to that. Whether it is the cause you will only discover by finding the right setting.

That is not the same setting, sorry. The one I have shown you is in Ease of access

-this is from the Control Panel Ease of Access in 1709.
I'm wondering if you saw that?

Please try doing this (bear in mind yours may be different as I said above - MS is changing this slowly)
    Win 10 1809 - mouse autoclicking on windows-1.jpg

    Click the bottom option.
    Win 10 1809 - mouse autoclicking on windows-2.jpg
    Click the bottom option.

You should see this - if 1809 behaves the same. Good luck!

    (That's in my post #2).

Unfortunately, on 1809, settings search results do not include "Ease of access center".

The only way to find that is by opening Control Panel > Ease of access > Make the mouse easier to use.

    You're welcome!

    Have you tried this?
    Win 10 1809 - mouse autoclicking on windows-folopt.jpg
Click on Start (Win key) and type in: folder options then click on suggested result.
You have to set it to "Double click...." to avoid accidental selection.
