*Some settings are hidden or maintained in 1809... Why won't you go?!

Yes, here we go again, and really! I really don't remember how to get rid of it! Tried everything, from the famous regtweaks to setting the policies on and off. It just won't go away and it's just in ONE spot in my settings: the Privacy settings part, to be exact the Diagnostics and Feedback part.

    (And trust me, I tried!)

Also tried to reinstall Windows again via a inplace install, I thought I would run into the settings before the installation was done but no. It just skips it over and lands me right into the desktop.

    Stuff I tried:
    > Turning settings on and off via Group Policy (You know, the telemetry part)... Won't work.
    > Turning to FULL data to transmit to MS in the feedback section (Basic or Full) (I can switch what I want, won't work!)
    > Turning location on and off and on...
    > Registry stuff as proposed by Google (I searched for an answer and tried some tweaks, none worked, also Computer Settings/Admin Templates/Windows Components would not work either)

I tried to fix this PC via MS (remote session) but they could not understand Dutch...

So yeah, help me again please!

    Hello @RingTailCoon

Do you have similar to this ?
*Some settings are hidden or maintained in 1809... Why won't you go?!-1.png

You wish to remove the red text and have full control over the settings again?
Do you happen to have Spybot Anti-Beacon or O&O ShutUp10 installed?
Because of the blocks and modifications these programs do, they take over control, so if you have em installed open them up and look for the settings that is related to the Diagnostics and Feedback part and disable it :)
That should remove *some settings are.....

    Hello @RingTailCoon

To be honest i don't remember what each setting does, it would me a long time to go through all the settings.
If you open O&O ShutUp10 you can leftclick on the text to read what each setting does :)
    Example.

You could also export your current settings under the File tab, and then just undo all changes in the program under the Action tab, then save, signout, signin or restart ur pc.
Check the Diagnostics and Feedback, if you have full control now you know that O&O is the cause,
and before you import your settings again read what each does before you enable them again.

Well, I tried several things with O & O but I have no idea what to turn on/off... Can anyone else help me with that? Suggestions? (And yes, it's STILL there in beautiful red!)

If you look at the "Action" pull down button, you will find a "Undo all changes (Factory settings)" selection item. Select that one.

Still not working, it's makes my Windows Update show the same sentence! Still the red phrase above the screen...

I just let it be, it's not hindering in any way, but if someone knows a solid solution, just shout!

Hi you could consider this to reset all group policy settings:

Reset Local Group Policy Editor Settings to Default in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

How to reset all Local Group Policy settings on Windows 10 | Windows Central

I suggest you back up properly first.

The legend can appear as a result of any registry change that corresponds to a group policy setting, whether made by a 3rd party program, merging a reg file or editing the registry manually.

I have it present as I've made certain specific changes to Windows Update using the group policy editor.

Nothing is edited in there, but I tried it before. Won't work. (All non-configured) When I FIRST installed 1809 (updated from 1803 for the first time) it just popped up at Diagnostics and Feedback and is there ever-since...

So SOMETHING went haywire during the 1803 > 1809 transition... (I had not that message in 1803 when I went updating to 1809)

Maaaaaaaaybe that time when the install froze up halfway...

If true, nothing we can do this end can fix it- leaving the only option I can see as a clean install.
