Win10 1809 update was installed through Windows Update-advice needed

    Hi,
Windows 10 1809 feature update was installed through Windows Update on the 2nd October on my laptop.
Ive only just found out on here that Microsoft have since pulled the update because of problems. I don't appear to have lost any files during the update and haven't noticed any problems as such yet. Boot up on the other hand does seem slower. There may be other problems but I just haven't come across them yet.
What should I do? Ive read that you can Roll Back to 1803 if its within 10 days though I don't know how reliable that method is. Is it done through Update and Security/Recovery and select Go back to a Previous Version?

Would it be recommended to Roll Back to 1803 and then wait for 1809 to come through Windows Update again when its fixed over the coming days?

As Samuria has said. If you experience no issue with the 1809 install, stay with it.

    To your other question :

Yes. That is how to go back...… within 10 days.
As a matter of fact, I did just that yesterday, Oct 7th. Went back to 1803 because I found the "slowness" of 1809 intolerable.

    Hi David,
Im having slow bootups that's one reason why I was considering that Roll Back to 1803.
What happens though when they have fixed the issue and release 1809 again...Will the 1809 feature update be automatically redownloaded and pushed through Windows Update to my PC as it was on the 2nd October?
Ive searched the internet to try get more information on how Roll Back to previous Windows 10 Build works. On one site it implied that you wouldn't be offered it again...the next build you would be offered through Windows Update in this case would be 1903? I was hoping that if I rolled back Id just automatically be offered it again through Windows Update as soon as Microsoft have fixed 1809 and made it available for release again..but I don't know if that's how it works? Any thoughts on this?

Of course when the "revised" 1809 is ready for public, it will be offered via Windows Update.
Rest assured that this forum will notify all members when "new and revised" 1809 Update is ready.
Brink, our Forum Admin, will post that in Windows 10 News section.

    **** Adding...…
You probably knew it already. You can also go to Media Creation Tool site and update there. You can also download the iso file there for future reference ( either for Clean Install or for Repair Install.)
Right now, Media Creation Tool site is offering version 1803. For version 1809, We will have to wait.

Yeah...If I ever want to do a clean install I use the Media Creation Tool for the ISO. Ive never updated from there though...so I don't know how that would work. That's why Im hoping that when 1809 is fixed it'll be pushed through Windows Update when its ready as it was on October 2nd.
I just performed the Roll Back on my laptop. It was painless lol I was surprised that it only took 15 minutes to complete. One peculiar thing Ive noticed. In my Reliability History there is an Informational Event listed at the time the Roll Back completed. Even though Ive rolled back to Windows 10 version 1803 it says "Feature Update Windows 10 version 1809-Successful Windows Update" Ive checked the build in System settings and it says Version 1803 OS Build 17134.320. Under Reliability History on your system does it give you the same confusing "Feature Update Windows 10 version 1809-Successful Windows Update" informational event?

RE : Ive never updated from there though...so I don't know how that would work.

Simple. Log on to Media Creation Tool site > at the top, click Update Now button > it will start scanning your system for compatibility etc > if approved, just follow the prompts.

Yes. I have the same thing. I cannot answer why, but I wouldn't worry about it. I'm back with 1803.

I bet MS will do a "second feature upgrade" for 1809. Those who've not yet upgraded can use it to come straight from 1803 or whatever, and those with 1809 already will essentially do an in-place upgrade repair install to move up to the new version. MS already did this once, so I believe that sets a precedent.
