Download problems after changing location from C to D

Hi, I just bought new computer that has Windows 10. Before I was using Vista. Drive C is smaller and I wanted to use it only for system files. So I have changed location for downloading files to D in computer settings and in my Firefox. But files either don`t download at all or end up in temporary files and disappear. How can I fix it? Resterting computer doesn`t help. I am not very familiar with computers because of age so I would really appreaciate tips for "blondies"

I'm not exactly sure what you are doing.

If I wanted to download to my D drive using Firefox, I would:

1: make a folder named downloads in the root of D, so that it would show in File Explorer as D:\downloads.

2: Open Firefox and change the default download directory to D:\downloads.

3: experiment to see if it worked.

Is that exactly what you have done?

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "I have changed location for downloading files to D in computer settings".

Have you tried to set Firefox to 'Always ask" where to download? You should get a dialogue box allowing you to browse to anywhere you want it to download.

Ive changed that setting. And then I sucessfully downoaled 1 file to that location. But then I could not download anything else from the same page and jpg file downloaded from my email disappeared (firefox did not ask me where to save it...).

It could be Firefox. Maybe a reinstall will resolve it.
