    Unknown folders in Windows/Temp

    Hi,

Does anyone know what are those empty folders in Windows/Temp, if and how can stop it?

They came with 1809 upgrade (same on clean install), usually after about 20min of every restart.

    Unknown folders in Windows/Temp-event.jpg
This is what I see (in Event Viewer), always at the time of folders appearance.
There is no such a file (Microsoft-Desktop-Provisioning-Sequence.dat) in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Provisioning folder.

Note: Disabling "Use sign-in info to automatically...." in Account settings > Sign-in options, does not help. Same for SFCscannow & DISMrestorehealth.

    THX!

    ---Update---

    SOLUTION :
Open Task Scheduler, go to Microsoft/Windows/Manangement/Provisioning and disable Logon task.

I can confirm this. Have exactly the same unknown folders with correspondent records in event logs. W10 Pro 1809 17763.195

It only appears after logon + idle time. It caused by "%systemRoot%\system32\ProvTool.exe" (there is task in task scheduler)

I have exactly the same brought on by 1809. Is it safe to disable that task? If not , what might be the fix?

BTW cra3y, what program is that you used to search for this?

Thanks. I shall look it up. And hopefully someone has found the cure for this one. And one other nuisance from 1809 the 1534 User Profile errors :)

    Bob,

If it is any help at all to have a comparison -
    - I do not have those empty folders in Windows/Temp
    - I do have those entries in Event viewer
    - There is no such file (Microsoft-Desktop-Provisioning-Sequence.dat) in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Provisioning folder
    - I do not have those TS tasks in AutoRuns
    - I do have those TS tasks in Task scheduler itself - the Logon one runs regularly but the Cellular one might never have run [last run 30/11/1999 but it does have a last run result which implies that it might have done something at some stage]

My v1809 is running smoothly on each of the three computers I have put it on.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Thanks Denis. We are identical then except for the temp folders.

This is interesting. These started on my system July 1st (unless previous ones were deleted). I wondered if it has something to do with looking to install 1903. I am still on 1809 and have 1903 on a 90-day delay.
