Dark File Explorer Issue after 1803 October update.

Hello I'm new to this forum.

I was using Windows with Ease of Access and after updating to 1803 and selecting the dark theme File Explorer remained white as well as Control Panel, etc. - When googling this issue it instructs to Personalise/Colors/Select Dark but it didn't work The only way I managed to get it to work was by selecting High Contrast, which is OK except for a horrible Purple border and top bar, which I have been unable to change.
Is using high contrast the only way to enable this, if so is there a way to change color of border and bar?

    Feedback much appreciated. Thanks

Hi skywreck. Welcome to the TenForums @skywreck

Very much doubt Control panel will ever have dark theme. Over time that functionality is being moved to Settings

Was reading how you enabled. The way I enable dark theme was to go to colors in Personalization, bottom of right hand panel,

    "Choose your default app mode".

    Please try this.

Thank you Ken, I had already done set to dark as you suggested but that didn't make either the File Explorer or Control Panel black. Then found out that the only way to get the result I wanted was to change settings from my Ease of Access to High Contrast which indeed achieved the desired result. What I am after is to find out if there is a way of changing the purple tool bar and border to another color, seeing that under High Contrast most of the colour options are disabled.
See picture showing you Control Panel with black background and purple border which no matter what theme I chose stays the same.

I did see that in your post.

There is something broken in your installation. You should not need to enter Ease of Access to engage. I noticed just above the setting to use Dark mode in colors was a check box for Accent color on title. I'd check that but as you've had to engage dark mode through ease of access I doubt that will help.

If you undo Ease of access could you check file explorer again.

I might run sfc /scanow just to ensure 1809 is clean.

A possible solution, once ease of Access undone.

Dark Theme doesn't properly work on File Explorer

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaving this for now and revert to the light version.

    best regards.
