Battery Backup For Laptop When Power Outage?

2.5 hours lasting with that 50000 mah battery?

My pw7015l which is 18000mah gives me about 2.5 hours...

Its been a while since i had to charge the pw7015l. Right now i have to charge it as it doesn't have the full five bars. When you charge it, there are 2 ways right?

The first is say your computer is charging with the ac adapter. You unplug the adapter part from your laptop, then plug that into the powerbank right? I did this and it light up but then unplugged it because im not 100 percent sure this is the correct way? My memory has not been that good but im pretty certain it is. This is the correct way to charge it right? Take the laptop charger for the xps and plug it into that part in companion?

But there is a 2nd way right? Because i think i did this previously but now dont remember if i did. Its where you connect the ac adapter to the power companion to charge it... then you use the other small cable that came with the companion and connect the power companion and then connect it to the laptop. So its like everything is connected in a chain so to speak? That is the other way that can be done and if you do that, it fully charges your laptop battery to 100% if it isn't already... then it charges the power bank to five lights right? I dont want to make a mistake here and cause any damage to the dell pw7015l i already have and make a mistake.

You charge the powerbank and the computer by following the instructions in the 'Quick start guide' that came with the powerbank.

When you have the Quick Start manual available, follow it's instructions as @Try3 suggested.

And you ask as many questions as you want. There's no cap or limit. When you're comfortable with the result, you will tell us.

Yes, to both. You connect the computer's AC adapter to the powerbank and you connect the powerbank's own lead to the AC input of the computer. This way, both get charged.

About that MaxOak 50000mAh thing -

Pat says this thing is not up to the job as far as XPS 15s are concerned.
2 There seem to be two versions of this MaxOak thing**. One of them that I have seen on Amazon [UK] says the 20V output is limited to 3A [which is the limitation Pat reports because he bought it from that product page] whilst another Amazon [UK] page for the same item says the 20V output is limited to 5A, which could be enough. I suggest that before buying it you use your local Amazon site's 'contact the seller' facility to check on that precise point [and you would have to tell them about the ratings label on your own AC power adapter because that is liable to say something like Output 19.5V at 3.5A]

** Added a few hours later - I have now heard back from MaxOak/PowerOak. Their older version did indeed have a limitation of 3A on the 20V output whereas the current version has a limitation of 5A on it. That first Amazon [UK] link contains a mixture of references to 3A & 5A so that product page might once have been for the old version then had a substitution made at some stage. The second Amazon [UK] link is definitely to the newer version.

And pay no attention to the 50000mAh claim. It's the 185Wh claim that matters [and you'll be able to compare that directly to the Wh figure given on your computer's battery].

Okay so you want me to ask them... is it 20V limited to 3A or is it 20V limited to 5A? If its the latter, it would work with no issue. If its the 1st one... then it might or might not work correct? My dell power adapter shows 130W. Also it shows 19.5V at 6.67A. Do you know what that mean with the 6.67A compared to what you put 3.5A?

Okay so if its 185Wh, based on that and the 50000mah claim... if i can get 2.5 hours out of my dell pw7015l, surely it would give at least 5 hours on this device right if it works? However, this device is pretty expensive where im located. Its around $300 or so whereas amazon us has it only for $130 which would be a bargain if it could get 5 hours. That would be like 2 dell powerbanks for a little over the price of one powerbank.

So the MaxOak/PowerOak does not provide what your computer needs - it cannot supply 6.67A at the required voltage. There is no point asking them anything. Forget all about it.

No, he did not.
- Pat said it could power a running XPS.
- He said it could charge up an XPS that was turned off.
- He said that it could not do both at the same time.
