The powerbank stores 18000mAh and my computer battery stores 3500mAh.

Powerbank test results for your computer were provided in the PCWorld review I gave you a link to before. Their test results show that their test computer [an XPS 15 with a 56Wh battery] lasted on its own for 5 hours playing videos but, with the Dell powerpack connected, it lasted for 23 hours.

And you are asking somebody else why my computer power lasts so long. OK.

Okay so i used my laptop while on battery while i was doing what i usually do but i didn't use that much power of it.

My laptop battery when i had power mode on battery: Battery saver and making my screen 25% only... i could get close to around 1.5 hours on it. Then I plugged in the powerbank while i was using it a bit more than half the time. It took about 1 hour 40 minutes for it to charge it up to about 85% of so until i notice it could not charge anymore. Then if i were to use it again on battery... i would probably get 1 hour 15 minutes on it. So in total it seems i could get a total of 3h 45m to 4h 20m minutes on it.
Thus using the laptop with battery only... then using the laptop while charging it... then finally using it on battery. I think i would get just a bit under 4 hours on it etc. So that sounds about right based on my 18000 power charger right?

So if i want to have more backup battery, get another dell 18000 powerbank and i would get close to another 3 hours on it... so total of 7 hours on battery and 2 power banks right?

Now would it be better idea to get UPS instead? Assuming i only connect it to my laptop only and do not connect to a monitor... how long would i get on a ups? What confuses me is ppl say online that it give you about 15 to 20 minutes max only. But thats on a desktop which powers your monitor and everything right? So if you only use it for a laptop how long could you get on it? I know it depends on the volts but for the average one? I see on amazon some that are 700w, 1050w and 1980w. How long would that make my laptop last? So in the process of using it... it would also charge my battery while using it similar to like power bank right?

So if i use my laptop charged with my dell charger as i always do and connect 2 monitors to it... this is my usual set up assuming there is no power outage.... are you telling me its better to just remove the dell charger and just connect the power bank instead? You seem to mention this earlier.

But if you do this, you aren't wearing the powerbank battery out? Because that is the last thing i want to do. You mention you have it connect to your laptop at all times but you don't connect it to a monitor... but if you did to a monitor, you would not do this right? Does it hurt the powerbank if you do?

The other thing is this. What i would do is if power outage happens, i use my laptop on battery for close to 1.5 hours if i can get that much. Its probably like a bit less than that. Then i plug in the dell powerbank... and then probably can charge up to 80 percent max before it runs out. That probably takes 1.5 hours. Then i have another 1h 15m on battery or so total.

So let say there is a power outage and i immediately connect the powerbank to my laptop... will i get more or less hours than the way i do it now? Because if you charge the powerbank to the laptop while the battery is pretty much 100%, aren't you going to get less than around the 4 hours or so i get doing it my way? Because if you charge it while its full 100%, wouldn't that mean after 1h 30m or so... the power bank runs out of battery. Now i only get about 1h 30m max on my battery. So now i only get 3hours total as oppose to 4 hours.

Im a bit confused with the numbers here because it seems if i do it my way, it gets more hours? Or it comes to the same no matter what?

I said no such thing. If you have AC power available then keep connected to it whenever you can.

But if you do this, you aren't wearing the powerbank battery out? Because that is the last thing i want to do. You mention you have it connect to your laptop at all times but you don't connect it to a monitor... but if you did to a monitor, you would not do this right? Does it hurt the powerbank if you do?
I have no idea what you are asking.
    - If you have AC power then keep it connected to keep the powerbank & the computer's battery charged up.
    - If you do not have AC power then keep the powerbank connected to the computer to keep the computer's battery charged up.
    - Only use the computer's battery if there is no AC power and you have exhausted the powerbank.
    - Batteries wear out by being used [discharging or charging] but keeping them fully charged does not wear them out.

Im a bit confused with the numbers here because it seems if i do it my way, it gets more hours? Or it comes to the same no matter what?
    - You get the same usage whatever swapping around you do.
    - I have no idea why you want to complicate the situation by partially using the computer's battery & then connecting the powerbank.
    - Just leave the powerbank connected at all times if you can.
    - If there is a power outage then connect the powerbank straightaway. It will keep the computer's battery fully charged and will power the computer at the same time. The powerbank will be sacrificing its life in order to keep the computer running and avoiding using up the computer battery's life.

    So just to confirm

    1. If no power outage, just connect my charger to my laptop as always. Thus this would keep my laptop battery fully charged always. And keep the powerbank nearby in case a power outage happens?

    2. But you say if you have ac power keep powerbank connected and the computer battery charged up. So you mean have it connected... outlet to dell charger to dell power bank to dell laptop? The thing is when i don't have power, well its usually when im already on the computer doing something.

Wait so never ever let my laptop on battery by itself if i have electricity? Thus always keep it fully charged at all times if you are inside the apartment when you have an outlet? So example if you use it on battery and let it drop to low percentage, then charge it fully, then let it on battery and keep repeating it a few times a day... because it gets at most 1.5 hours each time... that hurts the battery? I always thought it made the laptop battery worst when its fully charged and you keep having it plugged in. Thus similar to like say you recharge double a batteries with a charger. So that is the completely opposite then with laptop battery? I had no idea about this if this was true. I thought you are doing more damage to it keeping it fully charged. I almost always have it plugged it all day. So that is the proper way?

    3. You say leave the power bank connected at all times if you can. So when im doing my normal thing at my apartment, make it outlet to laptop charger to power bank to my laptop? So if i do it this way, then i don't do any damage to my laptop battery. But wouldn't i be using up the powerbank though? By that i mean doesn't a powerbank only have xxx amount of charges? So if i connect it to it all day to my laptop, its wearing it out? But if i connect only to my charger as usual, im not wearing anything out? Because i thought i would be wasting charges on the powerbank this way? Does that make sense?

But im confused when your next line is if there is a power outage, connect the powerbank right away. So here you are saying because i do not have it connected as usual, do this? Because previous line you say leave the powerbank connected at all times if you can.

You say you get same usage whatever swapping you do. So if you mean powerbank is connected. Now there is power outage. But my laptop battery is full. If i have it connected to my laptop, i would probably get 2.5 hours out of it until it runs out of power? Then i get close to around 1.5 hours of it while on battery? Similar to like if i do it my way... okay power outage. I use it on battery for 1.5 hours. Then i plug in powerbank. It takes 1.5 hours or so to charge it but i probably have 80% battery charged only. Then i use it on battery... now i get 1 to 1h 15m battery only. So either way it would come to same amount of time?

1 That is not what I wrote.

2 Yes. I don't understand why you say, "The thing is when i don't have power, well its usually when im already on the computer doing something." as though it was a problem. Having it all connected up means the powerbank just takes over if there is an outage.

not numbered - The battery charging circuits prevent overcharging. Your batteries wear out when they are in use [discharging/recharging].

not numbered - I never said, "connect the powerbank right away". I said connect it all up always.

not numbered - The amount of power stored within your laptop battery & the powerbank battery is the same & will last the same whether you mess around or not.

Hi. But this is not going to wear out my powerbank though? Again the thing is i do have power outages but it isn't like its happening every single week etc.

I mean if i don't need to use it which is majority of the time...why have it plugged in? I don't really understand the logic in this. I mean wouldn't that mean i have to buy another powerbank sooner than expected when it stops working or runs out? Like if i use it the way i do, it would last me longer? I do have it full charged when not using it.

Do most ppl have it connected always? The thing is i use my laptop basically like a desktop... thus battery almost always plugged in and i rarely take it even off my table when i use it. Because i use it with 2 external monitors.

I have already answered every one of those points except the one about whether or not most people do it because that is unanswerable.

    @Try3, thanks.

By the way, is your bios updated? I never updated my bios ever. I checked it and apparently its very outdated.

Do you know if updating bios could possibly give you a bettter battery life for the laptop or the powerbank?
