    New Windows Update Problem with SRT


    Hello! After the latest windows update (October) when i wanna change the format from a SRT file from ANSI to UTF-8 when i press save then give me a second file and not replace the old file with the new format! Any solution ?

    open file go format on top then font change script to central european save

    I think you dont understand what i mean!
    I have this this file

    New Windows Update Problem with SRT-untitled.png

    When i save it like UTF-8 format then give me a second file and not replace the original file

    New Windows Update Problem with SRT-untitled.png

    The second file give it like txt and non SRT! Why ? All this after the new October Update!

    Hey Thanos92,
    I don't think you can stop NotePad from doing that, at least I haven't been able to. Just rename the original xxxx.srt to .xxx.srt.org , then rename the xxxx.srt.txt to xxxx.srt ... PITA I know

    because it saves as txt file not srt.. it changes your extension if you dont see extensions set it by check mark in view tab in file explorer..
    edit: or change system locale to format every file automatically by going control panel/Clock and region/region/change system locale put your language there or check utf-8 check mark and sign out and sign in and it should show your special chars

    Even if I change it to "All Files" and the file shows as its going to save xxxx.srt it still adds the .txt after you save it.

    I'm not sure what has changed with Notepad, but when I save files that are something other than text, I enclose the file name in quotes.

    That was always the case for new files but not for existing files you were editing. Guess they broke that part.
