    ISO - e.g. ISO downloader post #3:

Recommend build 1709. From 1803 there are problems setting default apps/programs - simply can't be done in some cases.

However you will need to take control of updates yourself: as you have Pro you can set updates to Notify and Defer feature updates (upgrades).

They mine coin but you can just say No.

While 1709 is a viable choice security updates will likely end April 2019.

Have you reported this issue through feedback hub to MS.

I definitely feel insecure being exposed to these security updates.

Thing is, they are NOT just quality updates. They sometimes also change the specification. I now have 3 extra items in Settings when I launch it. (1709) Functions are being moved from the Control Panel to Settings even with that.

If you’re adventurous and willing to try the latest Windows 10 developer’s build... 18262.1000, the problem is fixed. You can edit these files and change the date to whatever you want. This version has a build watermark though.

After much experimenting with different versions of windows 10, build 1703 works flawlessly with all media files and no additional codecs are needed for them... including HEVC files. All dates can be edited with no errors. Then comes along build 1803. In this version you have to install a codec to play HEVC. Read only errors occur when attempting to edit the creation dates. I’m now using insiders build 18272rs 181026-1425. It’s a somewhat buggy build with a lot of freezing when working with media files. If you attempt to change the creation date with older files, you will get windows error code 0x80004001. But if you create a recode of a file, no errors will occur. To me it seems that build 1703 had a fully functional media file system that was removed in later builds; hence the need for installing a codec to play HEVC files. Why would Microsoft do that? It doesn’t make a better product for sure.

Hmm, another interesting flavour of apparent MS-related inconsistency...

Read only errors occur when attempting to edit the creation dates.
    - I think I've seen a thread somewhat along those lines.

I did some research work and it seems the HEVC codec removal was done on purpose. You can get the codecs at the windows store. Just a guess, I’m thinking when they removed the HEVC codec they also changed the file editing properties making them uneditable generating windows error codes. These files are from my iPhone in Apple’s format... mp4, mov. Funny thing is the original is uneditable, but if I recode it using Adobe Media Encoder, it becomes totally editable.
