For some strange reason I can't open MIDI Files with windows media player in Windows 10. I can with Open MODPlug Tracker & Apple's Quicktime software, but now in media player. I've tried CoolSoft MIDI Mapper and that doesn't seem to fix it. I can play my keyboard in my DAW, which is Renoise ver3.11. But I can't open a single MIDI Files. Please help. MIDI Is important to me has a audiofile.

Meanwhile you could try (yet) another player.
Hopefully someone running 1803 will confirm or not from their experience.
When did you first notice this? After upgrading to 1803 or subsequently?
You could try removing WMP as an installed feature and re-enabling it.

FWIW ...
I can play midi files using Windows Media Player.
1. Running latest Win10 Home x64 1803 (17134.320)
2. No 3rd party codecs installed
3. No 3rd party players installed
I just tried a Band in a Box MIDI file and it played OK with WMP.
Latest 1803 version, Win 10 Pro.
(I also use my desktop for my recording studio with Cakewalk Sonar)

What is the default player assigned to midi files?
I just used Windows Media Player to play a *.mid file located on one of my NAS drives, seems fine but took a little extra time to transfer to my Notebook when compared to being on the Notebook's HDD.
Windows 10 Version 1803 Build 17134.320 [latest].
I've included two screenshots to show what errors I'm getting. I have all the updated patches for Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I've tried Klite codecs to see if that would fix my issue, sadly it didn't. BTW thanks for the replies and sorry about the typos in previous post.

Using a restore point might help you if you have an idea when this started, and you have a suitable restore point and restoring it works. Hmm.

untick, restart, tick WMP
If that doesn't work, then an
in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs, data and most settings
(tutorial available).
I tried uninstalling wmp and reinstalling it. I've also tried uninstalling my Creative soundblaster Z drivers and reinstalling them. I didn't do a system restore, because honestly I don't know exactly when this problem occurred. I just know when I tried to play a MIDI file, which was a few days ago. I haven't played back a MIDI file in a several weeks.Thanks for the replies back.
