"Windows failed to resume from hibernate with error status 0xC000009A"

I have the latest version of Windows 10 and decided to add budgie Ubuntu 18.04 on it and after that the hibernation of Windows 10 never resumes from where I left off. Instead it basically restarts the Windows 10. On Ubuntu I have no issue hibernating or sleeping, and Windows 10 has no issue sleeping but once it hibernates and I try to resume, it doesn't go to where I was. Also Windows 10 has had an abnormally long boot time for some time now which I don't understand because on a previous version of windows 10 (think 1511 or something like that) I had a dual boot with Linux mint and everything was 100% fine. Hibernation and sleep worked well on both OS's and Windows 10 boot up time wasn't excruciatingly slow like it is now. And yes both times Windows 10 Fast startup was disabled, and the stuff req'd to run a dual boot efi system is setup correctly. When I check Windows 10 Event viewer all I see that relates to Hibernation are : "Windows failed to resume from hibernate with error status 0xC000009A.", "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.", and "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error is caused because the system stopped responding and the hardware watchdog triggered a system reset".

I don't have a backup drive big enough to back up everything so wiping everything and starting anew isn't really an option right now. I have a 750gb laptop and about ≥ half of it is occupied so i'd like it if I could have a solution that doesn't require doing that.

    Thank you in advance.

External HD for the size are now inexpensive.
For example for $100 Costco was selling a 4 TB Seagate HD.
It could be less expensive if you compare to other retailers.

Once you have all files backed up and / or made a backup image you then have more comfort in case there is ransomware, malware, corrupt operating system or registry, failure to boot, unknown problems after an electrical storm, etc.

Macrium is used widely and highly recommend in Ten Forums for making backup images:
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free
There is a tutorial on how to perform a backup and recovery:
Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect | Windows 10 Tutorials

When the event viewer logs are viewed the message: The Event viewer ID # 41 system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down can be generated by:
    a) problems with software and hardware drivers causing bsod
    b) problems with hardware causing bsod
    c) problems with hardware that cause non-bsod crashes
    d) power off of the computer instead of using software to turn off the computer
    etc.

If you are having problems with a,b, or c they should be troubleshooted.
If all of the entries in the event viewer are due to power offs then you can turn off hibernation.
With hibernation off if you have hangs and freezes and power off you will still see these entries in the event viewer.
If you do not have hangs and freezes and are no longer having to power off and these entries appear in the event viewer then you need to troubleshoot the entries for driver and hardware problems.

Slow boots can be troubleshooted using clean boot and Windows performance recorder.
It may take time but there are people in Ten Forums that interpret the tracings.

    Perform the following preliminary steps:
    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) Powercfg -h off
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    7) If the computer has Ccleaner > click windows tab > scroll down to system and advanced > post an image into the thread
    8) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings
    a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery into the thread.
    b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > under performance options > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory tab into the thread

    9) Run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread.
The beta log collector is located near the bottom of this web page:

Thank you for offering help. I solved the issue by uninstalling or rolling back the IDE SATA AHCI driver from the AMD one I installed back to the Microsoft default driver. I have no idea why that would cause a problem since my CPU is AMD but anyway I'm happy that I can hibernate my laptop now.

Glad to see the hibernation fixed.
How has the boot time changed?
If there are problems they can be troubleshooted using clean boot and windows performance recorder.

Boot time is still the same. And I'm also still getting the errors from the first post even though I'm able to hibernate. If I were to troubleshoot through clean boot what do I need to do through msconfig? Do I disable services one by one that aren't related to Microsoft or just disable all of them? As for the performance recorder, how do I use it?
