Windows 10 Black screen with cursor at startup.

Hello,
When I turn on my desktop, Windows 10 Pro starts cleanly.
I wait for the login screen, but the screen turns black, an arrow appears but nothing else happens ... !

What could be the problem and what can I do to solve it ?

Hi, as you can't log in, you can't do an in-place upgrade repair install. And as you don't see the logon screen you can't use the power button on screen there.

Do you have system restore enabled? If you boot to a Win 10 bootable medium you could use a restore point (if it works- they are not very reliable).

Do you have any disk images you have created which you could use? (We urge users to routinely use disk imaging e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) ).

History: do you know what led to this? E.g.
- there was a violent storm and there was a power cut
- Windows started to update and...
- I installed xyz
- It was working yesterday but today...
any clues..

As your PC won't boot fully, I recommend you do a couple of disk checks. To do that you will need to boot from a live boot disk. Please download Kyhi's iso from the top of the Software and Apps section here and create a bootable medium from that (DVD or flash drive e.g.).

Once you can boot from Kyhi's disk run
HD Tune
(on the disk) - use the Health and Error Scan tabs)

If ok, you can try this from a command prompt to try to boot to Safe Mode:
bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal
and to restore normal boot:
bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot
