    I suppose that you aren't updating from an earlier Insider build. Is that correct?

    In the past, the Windows upgrade installer has quit when it found traces of an unsupported program, even if the program has long been uninstalled.

    First thing to look for: an Avira folder in Program Files or Program Files (X86). If it's there, delete it.

    Second (more dangerous to remove) thing: Windows Regitry entries.

    Best of luck.

    Try this:

    Download Avira Registry Cleaner

    I would also use Revo after that

    And Reset Windows Update in Windows 10 | Tutorials, if still having problems

    Try making this into a batch file and running it from a Elevated Command Prompt:

    Code:
    @echo off
    date /t & time /t
    echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    echo ...
    date /t & time /t
    echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    echo ...
    date /t & time /t
    echo SFC /scannow
    SFC /scannow
    date /t & time /t
    All 3 commands should run with no errors.

    This may be pretty stupid, but...

    Presumably, the latest version of Avira is compatible with Windows 10.

    Download the free version. Install it. Uninstall it. (Use the uninstall utility, if you like.)

    Cross your fingers.

    Try to install the Windows update again.

    Did you run it in elevated command prompt (right click, run as admin)?

    @bobkn 's advice is worth a try.
