    @dalchina
    I have reinstalled EasyBCD and I now have the empty icon in the utilities folder after a reboot.
    The Resource Hacker screens look as follows. I cannot see a difference to dalchina's screenshots. The only difference I see is that I cannot display screen3 in editor mode, only in binary.

    Hi, thanks.
    Again please confirm (I may have missed it way back) that refreshing the icon cache does not help.

    If you use ResHacker on the shortcut .lnk file with the icon displayed, can you see my 3rd screen as I do?

    If you keep a shortcut on the desktop and reboot, I understand that doesn't change. What happens if you then move that to the folder?

    You could also check for user profile problems- create a new user for test purposes and see if the same thing then happens when logged in as that user. If so, it's a Windows problem, and could be fixed e.g. by an in-place upgrade repair install.

    A work around (pretty horrible) could be to have a script write a new copy of the shortcut to the folder after log on.

    Yes, refreshing icon cache does not fix the problem. I have had this issue on every Win 10 machine I have set up in the last few years. I don't think it's a user profile issue. It is present as I described it after a clean install of Win 10.
    My third screen looks different from yours. As I said above, I cannot switch to editor view in Res Hacker. It insinsts on displaying the screen in binary view. All the rest seems identical.
    Probably it has something to do with the way the programmes of these programs are generating their desktop shortcut during installation. Could be that the issue only occurs when Windows location is Switzerland or Swiss German keyboard is being used.
    I guess I just have to keep using my two step procedure. After that the missing icons usually stick for a long time.

    Mm, hope someone has a fresh suggestion.. and don't forget you could try sTablauncher rather than folders of shortcuts.
