icons inside a folder

    icons inside a folder


    Has anybody figured out a way to arrange icons inside a folder and not have them revert to auto arrange ? I know i can number them or put them inside another folder but not of this was necessary in win 7.

    Even Windows 7 had Auto Arrange. Just uncheck auto arrange for that folder by right clicking in it, then open Folder Properties and save settings for all folders.

    The problem is you or at least I, can not disable the auto arrange in Win 10, whatever I do when I close the folder and go back the are automatically arranged in number or alphabetical order

    Yes you can change the Grouping of icons in Windows 10, as you have in prior versions. The new item is called "Stacking", which also can be changed.

    Does this apply to various shortcut icons all placed in one folder?

    It has nothing to do with the shortcuts, it is up to the user to choose how they wish to Sort, Group or Stack the icons in the folder.

    How do you do this? Stack I mean. I don't see it in the Sort by drop down.

    I can not find "stacking" in anywhere , pls advise.

    What view are you using to look at the folder?

    I don't think you can remove all Sort by choices. As far as I can see you always have to choose one.

    How did you do this in Windows 7?
