Hi,
Nothing wrong with mbr disk I like it more, less clutter.
One 500mb system reserved and C and one more for data if one really feels the need otherwise add another disk for data.

Yes, all the Dell threads I found say the same thing - 1709 was OK, problem started after the upgrade to 1803. My newer Dell is supported for W10, so I can't investigate this further. Maybe 1809 will work for you?

If I recall correctly, 1803 obsoleted some older hardware - all not just Dell - and 1803 is not even offered to some.

@fireberd, I take your word for that statement - assuming that you are not just flashing arguments (?) And since there was no known way to stop or avoid the update from 1709 to 1803 (at least not for a "normal" enduser), the effect of your statement (if it is true) means that MS deliberately killed zillions of computers just like that, over night, under peoples fingers, so to speak. You know what? I don't think so! Lawyers wold be running to court by the thousands, if that was the case.
Back on track - @Bree, how do I get hold of 1809 ?

1809 is in the final stages of Insider testing at the moment and is due to be released around mid-October. When the rollout begins machines will start to see it offered in Windows Update. The Media Creation Tool will also be updated to create 1809 install media if you wish to upgrade manually. Watch the News forum for an announcement...

You can join the Windows Insider program and get the current "almost finished" version that will be 1809.

But to answer your question I've seen posts about older hardware no longer supported for drivers by vendors or Microsoft update and those are either no longer compatible period or only limited to a certain Win 10 version. Its not just Microsoft, its the hardware vendors (PC manufacturers and hardware device manufacturers).

The only example that I know of is for the now unsupported Intel Atom Clover Trail processors Z2760, Z2580, Z2560, Z2520. PCs running those processors cannot be upgraded beyond the Anniversary Update 1607, but will be supported with cumulative updates until January 2023.

It's not all Intel Atoms though, only the Intel Clover Trail devices. I've just installed 1803 on a Intel Atom N2600 Cedarview device.

The Win10 shutdown problem on some older Dell machines that was introduced by MS with 1803, remains also in 1809.
No Change. The only solutionis to use legacy MBR.

We are now expecting 1903 to be released in April. Let's hope you have better luck with that.
