In the links that were posted there were several methods available to reset the BIOS.
Which method were you asking about?
When was the last time that the BIOS was reset on the computer?
Resetting a BIOS implies that the BIOS is to forget the configuration it knows, detect all connected hardware, suggest the most optimal settings and apply them.

Since you can remove this drive pretty easy can you connect to another system and can you access any files.
My thinking is the drive might be mark "locked".
Actually, I have recovered 99% of the data I need off the drive anyway.
The ONLY thing that I really want to do is get the saved login info from Firefox. So I would want to just start up firefox, get saved passwords, and then get out.
Unfortunately firefox encrypts the saved login info so I can't just grab it while booting in to Linux.

Lot easier if you just get a Firefox sync account which will sync Firefox with any other computer or phone running Firefox. Then open FF on another device, sign in and all your bookmarks, saved passwords, etc will open as of last sync (auto syncs several times a day).
