These are the drivers that I'm using:
Intel 3000 driver - Win 7/8 (source: Intel)

Dell Quickset - Win 8 (source: Dell)

Realtek HD Audio - Win 8 (source: Dell)

Free Fall Motion Sensor - Win 8 (source: Dell)

To make everything work you need to disable auto driver updates from Windows Update or they will just keep auto-updating to the non-working drivers.

Control Panel>System>Advanced system settings>Hardware>Device Installation Settings

    Then select:
"No, let me choose what to do"
"Never install driver software from Windows Update"
"Automatically get the device app and info provided by your device manufacturer" checked.

Then go to Programs and Features and uninstall the accelerometer, audio, video, and quickset drivers.

Finally, open each new driver you downloaded and extract them but then cancel them as soon as the install wizard automatically starts. Navigate to the extracted drivers (they default to C:\dell\drivers) and right click on each driver installer and set them to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8 (right click on the setup and go to Properties>Compatibility).

After setting the compatibility setting you can now install the drivers by right clicking on the setup files and selecting Run as administrator.

Reboot as necessary and enjoy a working L502x on Windows 10. I haven't found anything that's not working yet... MaxxAudio3 even works as it should!

Does this work on a dell XPS 17 L702X?
my problem is waves maxxaudio 3 and dell quikset not working :)
i'm now back on win 7 for the moment, if i know this works on my XPS 17 L702 i would upgrade back to win10.

Need help with this "Then go to Programs and Features and uninstall the accelerometer, audio, video, and quickset drivers."

I am not sure which drivers are exactly I am looking for in control panel. With video search i see multiple drivers.
Also I uninstalled the Realtek and installed provided in the link above with compatibility of windows 8. The waves audio button was not working. Finally I dowloaded windows 7 driver from Dell website and installed in windows 7 compatibility. After installing multiple times the waves max button is working. But the sound has some chirp sometimes.
Thanks issue with sleep is resolved. Appreciate help with the above questions.

I can reproduce the sleep issue on my desktop - Intel CPU and Chipset, Nvidia Graphics - see specs - by having USB (portable, removable, either USB solid state or Hard disk drives) storage attached when the PC goes to sleep. Will not wake with the storage either attached or removed, has to be restarted by holding the power button down to turn off, then rebooting.

The drivers are all currently supplied via Microsoft Windows 10 setup and updates (Build 10074 upgraded via Media Creation Tool to 10240 (Setup allowed me to keep nothing), not Insider, local account only, but has same problem with Insider builds too.

I intend to update the chipset to the Intel latest version, see what happens, then update Nvidia, then go through the hardware that remains with Microsoft generic drivers step by step. First I'll take a full driver backup.

I followed the steps above. I upgraded from windows 7 ultimate to windows 10 pro. I have Bios of Windows 7. Do I have to put the Bios of windows 8 from dell website.

Out of 4 drivers above except the realtek, I installed them in windows 8 compatibility mode. Realtek I installed in windows 7 compatibility mode. As windows 8 Mode driver was giving problems.

My questions is should I upgrade to Windows 8 bios or redo the other 3 drivers in windows 7 compatibility mode as my bios is for windows 7.

Had this problem back on Windows 8. Solved it by reinstalling the audio driver from the Dell driver download but for the record I've been using a newer Realtek driver version 2.7.4 (filename 64bit_Win7_Win8_Win81_R274.exe) because it unlocks some hidden features if you use DJ or audio production software -- you can independently map each of the four output channels to say have a separate master out and headphones cue -- and yes it even shows Dell Audio in the windows title. Also, I have zero sound chirps and skips with 2.7.4.

Anything newer than 2.7.4 and the Maxxxaudio tab is blank, regardless of Windows version.

I say, if you have an L502x, go ahead and update to Windows 10. I've turned back on Automatic Driver downloads and all of the following are staying installed. After a week of testing, my XPS L502x is working perfectly with Windows 10 using the following drivers:
BIOS version A12 - Win 8 (Dell driver downloads)
    http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0095...1/L502XA12.exe

Dell Quickset - Win7/8 - A05 (Dell driver downloads) (Installed in Win 7 compatibility mode)
    http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0095...-GMFY2_ZPE.exe

Dell Touchpad Driver - Win 8 - Version 15.2.6.0,A00 (Dell driver downloads)
    http://downloads.dell.com/input/R293038.exe
*Doesn't support 2-finger scrolling in modern apps (at least not yet)

Free Fall Motion Sensor - Win 7/8 - A00 (Dell driver downloads)
    http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0095...-KT7XG_ZPE.exe

    JMicron JMB389 Card Reader - Win 7 - A01 (Dell driver downloads)
    http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0095..._TKH3F_ZPE.exe

Realtek audio 2.7.4 - Win 8 (Originally on Realtek's site, but old versions seem to be removed)
    Found and downloaded from 3Dguru.com
*Dell's version A06 for Win 8 should also work, but 2.7.4 works better for me.

Intel HD Graphics 3000 version 9.17.10.4229
    (Installed by Windows Update)

    NVIDIA Geforce 355.60 - Windows 10 driver
    (Installed by Windows Update)

Thanks for all the info folks - I have a L702x and I just uninstalled the accelerometer driver and installed the one below and it seems to have fixed the sleep issue. (trying the compatibility mode with the older version of the driver did not work for me)

I also have a Dell XPS 17 L702X, and have noticed that the Optimus video thing doesn't seem to be working on my laptop. The nVidia graphics never seems to run, and I don't see the Optimus settings that used to be there in the nVidia control panel, either. I've also installed several Dell OEM Windows 7/8 drivers from the driver download site to enable the OEM hardware on Windows 10, but the Dell OEM HD 3000 Intel integrated graphics driver will not install on my Windows 10 laptop, and I think that's got the Optimus functionality in it, or at least enables it (but I could be wrong). Does the Intel HD 3000 driver listed above (from the Intel site, not Dell) allow the Optimus functionality so I can use the nVidia graphics, or am I missing something here?

Can anyone that has the Optimus thing working tell me exactly which video drivers they're using (Intel integrated graphics and nVidia), and where they got them? I'd really like to be able to get the nVidia graphics going when it is appropriate to use.

    Thanks very much!
