PC says I'm in a different country when I'm not

So since a few days ago my PC has been really weird. First of all it wouldnt connect to my wifi properly, then i was on chrome a few days later and it said i was in holland ( I'm in the UK), then it said i was in the seychelles. some sites seemed to think the former, and some the latter. but google maps showed me in the uk, where i actually am. I AM NOT USING A VPN. i checked multiple times. and since then a lot of stuff has been going wrong - incredibly slow load times, i couldn't load SCUM, etc. I have no idea what to do

Windows settings, Time and Language, Region.

How old is the PC? I wonder if your CMOS backup battery may need replacement.

Later: Scratch the CMOS battery thing. I was stupid. The locale isn't one of the things saved in the BIOS.

What antivirus do you use? Some include VPN by default.
It could be also within browser extensions, try to disable all.

When it happens again, check your current IP, the problems definitely sound like some free VPN.

It really depends on where your ISP is hosting your IP for the DNS out of. It happens here in the U.S. A ISP may have a list of IP's out of one state or region and you could be in another.

Could the problem lie within your router, then? Maybe use your smartphone as a temporary hotspot to see it the country issue persists.
