Laptop not booting up (no fan as well)

    Hello,
a sony vaio laptop from 2011 just stopped working.
It was on sleep mode and I tried to open it but nothing happened.
The fan, the monitor and the hdd are not turning on.
The cpu is working as it gets hot.
The cdrom is also opening if pressed.
I tried to connect to an external monitor but nothing.
    I get no sound verification.
I Changed the ram to working ones with no result.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Have you tried the usual method of removing the power cord, then the battery, then press the ON button for 60 seconds. Leave it without any battery or power cord for about ten minutes, then re-insert battery, power cord and let the battery charge for another hour or so, then try the ON button. This method worked on one of my laptops about ten years ago. Unfortunately when the problem re-occured a few years later, it did not work out, anyway, give it a try. There is also the possibility that the cmos battery is not working which on my VAIO was replaceable following an online VAIO manual.

I tried the battery and power cord. Did not work. the cmos battery is needed for what? Would the cpu work without it?
    Thanks!

You are right, generally laptops do work without any CMOS battery (at their default bios configuration). I only recommended it to discount its possibility, thats all.

If you do a hard shut down and power up do you see anything at all?

As you mentioned you saw nothing on the screen, so would assume a hardware problem.

No I see nothing. Only feedback I get is the led of the on/off button that turns to green and the fact that the cpu is getting hot.
