    Search & Index problem

    Hi,

I have installed a program called Windows10 Manager.
It has sub-program executables (independent of the main program)

I want to quick access them pressing the windows key and start typing their name which invokes suggestions.

I have specifically indexed only this program and it's sub-programs within my windows partition (also indexed my data partition)

still I don't get these sub-programs while typing their names on the search bar.

How can I solve this problem ?
Does cortana search local files only within the indexed ones ?

On the Indexing Options page above, have you tried "Delete and Rebuild index" via the "Advanced" button ? Also in the Advanced Section make sure the file types options are properly set for your programs and data.

Go to Modify, and select everything there. Make sure to exclude WinSxS listed similarly to my picture, because there's some files in there that cause the indexer to crash and restart its indexing non-stop. Crashes once it reaches a certain file in WinSxS, and restarts. That's from my experience.

Well there is a problem with .exe files index & search. I've minimized the indexing to ONLY "Windows 10 Manager" excluded it's Language sub-directory and I got 61 indexed files where as the folder contains only 52 .exe files (+1 .chm file, dll files are not checked in my file types) also they didn't appear while I search-typing them.

Anyhow I found a workaround I mass created shortcuts to these 52 files moved them into a folder then moved the folder to the start menu's all apps list in %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs then made sure this path is within the indexed folders, re-indexed, and the programs appeared as I started searching for them
