    Virtual Mem Page File Partition

    Hi
I have been given an Acer Laptop and I intend to do a fresh install of Windows 10. There is currently a partition named "E:\ Virtual Mem/page file leave empty" with a size of 20Gb. I don't understand why, if at all, it is needed and I have not seen this on other computers. When I do a fresh install is it OK to delete this partition and will the 20Gb be added to main c:\ drive.

    Thank you
    Bill

If you're doing a fresh install, then in general you can delete all partitions on the system disk, unless there are data partitions which you wish to retain.

Windows creates all the partitions necessary for itself. You must install to unallocated space on the disk. During the installation you have the option to delete partitions.

Activation should be automatic if Win 10 was previously installed.

If it's not some kind of recovery partition that you intend to use in the future, you can delete it.

You can add this code to your Windows 10 configuration script to set the pagefile to 512MB on the same partition as your OS.
    Code:
:: ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS >> Advanced >> Performance >> Settings - Virtual memory
wmic computersystem where name="%computername%" set AutomaticManagedPagefile=False
wmic pagefileset where name="%SystemDrive%\\pagefile.sys" set InitialSize=512,MaximumSize=512

Thank you both for your replies. I'll delete the partition.
