Cortana search box is now huge

Why did my Cortana search box suddenly more than double in size? See the screenshot. I did absolutely nothing to change it and see no setting to revert it back to its typical size. I am running 1803. Restarted computer with no change.

I thought I screwed a setting up or something, but i'm glad it isn't just me. Anyone know how to revert this?

Also, Group policy disabling web search through the start menu search is borked. Help would be appreciated....

There are a few settings if you right click on a empty spot of the task bar

Cortana search box is now huge-cortanna.png

I have mine set as hidden, If I want to search for something I just press the Windows key and start typing or press CTRL+V to paste text from the clipboard.

I'm aware of those settings. My question/concern is why all of a sudden the Cortana search box changed in size and function? As the box itself now has additional dialog, etc. So far it has only done it on one computer even though I have three on 1803.

And if I just have it set for "Show search box" it still functions the same. It opens a large Cortana box when it does the search. Having it hidden completely the Windows key doesn't bring up any search option for me, it opens up the Start screen or whatever it is called on Windows 10.

Yes that opens it, but guess what? The search box is now back to its normal size even when using the Cortana icon. Very strange. You can see the screenshot where it was huge, it was definitely happening. There have been absolutely no changes to the computer before or after it happened. Got to love Windows. I'll mark it as solved but who really knows what happened.

Maybe changing settings has rewritten some bit somewhere.. just hope it carries on working.

When I see such issues I just hit the F5 key, or right-click, to Refresh the desktop. Since it's Dynamic it's constantly changing/redrawing and sometimes things in memory make changes and the refresh helps clear up problems.
