Colour a file name in windows explorer

I'm currently proof reading 100s of files in digital format from the original hard copy.

Some have bits missing and the simplest way would be to be to change the file name colour so I can find it again easily at a later date.

Ideally I would like to do this without hacking the registry.

I know I can move the offending file to another location but just wondered if the above is possible.

You could use the Comments column in file explorer, if you install the rather useful program File MetaData (free) and configure the file type: e.g.
Colour a file name in windows explorer-untitled.png

Other columns are available similarly as you can see in the Properties sheet.

That means you can easily group files by clicking on the column header.

    Perhaps 3rd party tools like
Change file icon or color, free. Make a search for important information a "one-glance" affair!
    (not tried) may help.
