    Operating System failure help needed

    Greetings,
Earlier today I was watching amazon and google chrome sent me back to the previous page continuously until I got back to new tab. This happens everytime I open something in google chrome, spotify, microsoft edge, or even steam. A few seconds after opening anything that has a previous page button it is activated and I am sent back to the first page.
Edit: Windows File Explorer is affected as well.

To make matters worse at the same time as the is happening my mouse function is failing. Whenever I sign into my my PC everything is normal than no more than a minute later I cannot highlight or click on anything, spotify, web pages, windows apps or the task bar at the bottom.

The only way to get back to being able to click thinks is to alt tab many times, open task manager via ctrl alt dlt and hit cancel or simply restarting my computer.

Both of these issues appear to be connected as my web pages go backwards my clicking fails both right and left clicking.

What I have done so far with no success:
    Boot in safe mode
Disable all non windows processes and selective start options
    Reset bios uefi
    Update drivers to mouse
    Reinstall drivers to mouse
    Use different mouse
    Restore to last windows update
    Reset my pc keeping files

I also reset pc keeping only windows, problem subsided after I switched my left click to right click on my mouse than resumed shortly after I signed back into chrome and started watching amazon.

How do I fix this problem? what havn't I tried?
    I'm desperate

Hi, sorry to hear of your problem.

We don't know what sort of PC you have. Could you complete your specs please? (See mine for comparison- click My Computer under my post).

Is it possible you have a stuck key on your keyboard?

    my mouse function is failing
What sort of mouse do you have? Please specify type and technology (e.g. wired/wireless).

Do you have a touchpad? (Don't know if you have a desktop.. laptop.. sthg else....).

Have you tried a different mouse?
What happens if you disconnect the mouse completely? Any change?

Noted you say you see exactly the same in Safe Mode and after a reset, suggesting this is hardware related.

Thank you for the quick response.
I have a wired razor Naga 2014 mouse
    Razor blackwidow keyboard

I built my desktop a little over a year and a half ago with an evga gtx 1070 intel i5 6600k asus mother board 500gb ssd and a 2tb hard disk drive. I don't think its a stuck key, whenever I unplug the key board the problems still persists.
What other hardware could cause the issue?

    Thanks again.

Given the combination of symptoms, I'd reinstall the display driver & check for an updated BIOS.

    Best of luck,

    - if it's happening in Safe Mode in the same way, that won't be the display driver...

Ok, simple isolation check: boot your PC from a bootable disk (anything would do for a basic check- even a Windows boot disk provided you don't actually install anything (!).

Best would be e.g. Kyhi's - very handy- from the top of the Software and Apps section here.

If typing and tabs and so on (with Kyhi's disk) work, you know it's not a hardware problem.

Strange things have happened because of PSU's even...

Thanks for the replies, I will load from a bootable disk. Hopefully that will lead to a solution.

Hi xander8789 after reading about ur problem first thing that pops up in my mind is that it might not be hardware related if it happens in safe mode aswell.
No idea if u have already checked it but im going to suggest that you scan your pc with malwarebytes
    And run a virus scan.
Btw what Antivirus software are you using ?

But if there is no malicious files in your system what about trying a new mouse ?

Ok, I attempted to run a boot off of a flash drive. I installed windows kyhi's and put it in a flash drive that was empty and then booted the flash drive with the iso file. It sent me to my uefi bios, there I had no issues clicking however after hitting save and exit after 5 minutes or so the problem resumed while I was clicking around in my desktop.

Is there any other troubleshooting I can do? Im not 100% sure I booted from the flash drive correctly? I used command prompt to clean and format the disk for uefi. Also should I do anything in my asus uefi?

    1) When you power on the computer now what do you see and hear?

    2) When the computer is powered on now are you able to open safe mode?

    3) Were you able to boot using the Kyhi boot rescue?

    4) Were you able to boot using a Windows 10 iso?

    5) Update the computer specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

    6) These are some boot testing that can be performed:
    a) attempt booting with a Ubuntu/Linux flash drive
Create a bootable USB stick on Windows | Ubuntu tutorials
    b) attempt booting with Memtest86+ version 5.01 and test the RAM
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
    c) attempt booting with Kyhi boot rescue
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk
    d) attempt booting with a Windows 10 iso
