Was hoping the number would be more specific.

If you know when this issue started check in your Windows update history, at bottom is drivers. Did MS perform a driver update with a generic driver for your Asus MB?

The hard ware id identified the unknown device as my mother board. So far I downloaded driver booster 5 and ran a scan updating all but 12 drivers. The 12 not updated require a premium version. One of the 12 drivers is intel(r) 100 series/c230 chipset family sata ahci controller. The other drivers not dated apear to be related to video games.

Step 1.... uninstall Driver Booster 5 from IoBit. It is snake oil. All driver update 3rd party apps are snake oil. Snake oil=trouble. Step 2.... go to the Intel site and search for your driver(s). They will have the chipset drivers you need. There is no such thing as a Premium Driver. That's IoBit taking your $$$ to give you what you can get from the manufacturer, untouched by 3rd party, and genuine, and free.

    Just my opinion and advice.

Most drivers should be from the computer or motherboard manufacturer.
If drivers are not available from the computer or motherboard manufacturer then the source should be the component manufacturer (Intel, Nvidia, AMD, Killer Networks, Realtek, etc.)
The above are the best tested and reliable sources.
Websites that update drivers and software are unnecessary and may install unknown files.
    Uninstall:
    a) drive easy and all drivers installed by this software
    b) iobit and all drivers installed by this software

System restore can remove all of the drivers.
With the uncertainty of the drivers and files sometimes a clean install is needed to have a stable environment.

Run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread:

I am currently executing a stystem restore to before I started messing with the drivers. After that I will run the BETA log collector. After both of those processes what should my next step be?
