    Resizing Pages + Desktop View

One moment I am happily working on my PC then, after clicking on 'New Email', I found that the email message covered the entire screen. Usually, it opens at a smaller size so I assume that to be the default size. When I went to reduce its size - by clicking on the overlapping pages symbol top right of the monitor - the email wasn't reduced in size. It was as if the monitor was frozen.
Did I inadvertently press the wrong keys on my keyboard to set something up I shouldn't or did an update or some corruption in Windows 10 bring this about? I do wonder if it's the latter because my normal desktop view is not the usual one. I see three boxes - here's a screen shot. I don't want to see this! I want my old screen back! Also, I do wonder if there's a glitch in the PC because when I click an icon on the Task Bar, it sometimes doesn't open. Help!! Processing...x

Are you, perhaps, stuck in Task View (WinKey+Tab)?

I had that in a couple of Builds, had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete►Sign out►Sign back in to release it!

No, it's not that. Actually, the desktop view isn't a major concern - it's more the fact that I can't decrease the size of pages anymore. In other words, when I click on the overlapping pages symbol, nothing happens. This is really what I want help with.

How do you mean 'Turn On or Off'? In my Tablet Mode settings, it says 'When I sign in' and underneath is a box with the words 'Use Tablet mode'. The other two options are: 'Use desktop mode' and 'Use the appropriate mode for my hardware.' I don't have a clue what last one means.
Also, underneath it says 'When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off, the box has the words 'Always ask me before switching.' The other two options are 'Don't ask me and don't switch' and 'Don't ask me and always switch.'
So, what am I supposed to choose?

For now, look here in the Action Center, and see if you can just toggle the Tablet Mode off/on/off/on..... toggle OFF, see if that clears up the issue.

It's ok. I chose Use Desktop instead of Tablet and everything is back to where it was. Phew! Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. The curious thing is: why did the settings suddenly turn the tablet mode on? Did I maybe press two keys together to inadvertently trigger this?
