Is it same as yours ? Once you are in BIOS, F9 should bring you to boot choice.

As CountMike said press F9 key which should bring you to boot choice. DON'T press ENTER as you want to choose USB in boot choice.

    Guys

Perhaps I am not making myself clear, once I get the boot menu up as Das10 has shown, I do not have option to use mouse, arrows, or touchpad, that's why I c/on enter.

So again I say, the only suggestion that worked, was to keep pressing escape, but once it opened, I was at paragraph above.

The touchpad mouse or arrows keys will not work.
Can you not press the F9 function key ( Sorry if you already know but Function keys are F1 F2 F3 etc keys on the top row of the keyboard ) ?

Yes, I know the function keys, that's what I used when trying F10 then F9.

Then I was told to press escape instead, that brought up the boot menu if called that, are you saying that to operate that menu, with mouse etc, to try F9 again

You could choose the largest partition on that disk as it is the most likely to be the Windows installation. This will leave your HP system recovery intact.

    BUT:

As you don't know what else the scammers might have done on that PC, it would be safest if you first delete all partitions (you have to select one partition at a time, delete it, select next partition, delete it etc until all partitions are deleted). Then when you have only one selection left where it says "Unallocated", you select that as your destination and click next.
This way, the HP recovery partition will be gone as well, but also you will have a Clean installation on the drive.

That is the most correct and safe method. Particularly under your circumstances. Blow them all away, one at a time. Install to the one big unallocated as @das10 says to do. Windows will create all the partitions it needs, by itself, and in the order it needs. Best method. Safest method.
