Created the Rescue Media, How Do I Check it?

Something got fouled up, my stuff went missing, dont know if Im in right spot now. Said to check if the rescue media works

What rescue media are you speaking of? if its something that the manufacturer gave you, it will put you right back where the computer was when you bought it.
If you used something like Macrium Reflect or other Image back up programs it will bring you back to where you were when you created the Image?

The only way I know to check rescue media is to boot and see if it will run. Turn off the computer, install USB or other media, turn on computer Press whatever F key will bring up a boot menu. Asus and HP use Esc key, some will still use F8, Whichever key that brings up a boot menu select your Rescue media if it boots to the recovery program that would be a good test and close out of it. To test the actual back up you would have to restore the backed up image.

The poster started a thread (quite a long one) recently which has been removed due to some technical glitch. He's getting advice on using Macrium with usb stick(s), I believe. There is another post in 'Site Stuff' sub-forum. The original thread is gone.

I need someone to answer that knows what Ive been going thru so far, otherwise more different guys/answers makes more confusion.

I just read somewhere (now I forget where) that after making the rescue media, check it to be sure it came out right, and it will boot the machine as it is supposed to do.....that's all.

This is a continuation of a thread about learning to use Macrium where @MeAndMyComputer and others have been helping ImLost get started. Unfortunately that original thread got 'eaten' by the server and no longer exists, so you're joining the story about half way through.

The story so far - ImLost has made the Macrium rescue media on a usb. He also was going to make his first image of his new PC to a 64GB usb before installing more software. He now wants guidance on how to 'test run' the restore process (without actually going through to the end) partly to learn how to do it and partly to reassure himself that he has made the recovery media and the image correctly.

@ImLost, have I got that right? Is that where you have got to now?

I'm glad to see you back and at the point you are at. I know Caledon Ken has recommended how to get your USB to be the bootable method when you boot back up.

I'd like to explain why that is the case. In normal usage your HDD is the bootable drive.
However in cases when a bootable drive is needed instead of the HDD, it's usually necessary to change the boot order so that the alternate bootable drive will boot when the computer is started back up: in your case it's your MR USB Recovery drive.
