@ImLost I've been watching your thread here and have learned as much as you. I'm only a couple of weeks ahead of you with Macrium Reflect. It and Win 10 are both vastly different from my old XP Pro system I last had.

You're doing well in this process. You have some knowledgeable and excellent guides giving you the steps to follow. Don't get discouraged. Fear of failure has cost more dreams than actual failure has. The same can be said for us here. Being older I'm not as intrepid as I once was. An Image I can restore has afforded me some measure of confidence that if I botch my PC, I probably can recover from it. Good luck to both of us.
Well said - it is an insurance policy!

    Thanks @Eddie Doc.

Got to thinking after I posted that, does the Rescue Boot Stick need to "Match" my image file. I wouldn't think so, but I've been wrong before.

Might depend on how old your rescue media is, I don't know. If Macrium has had a major update since you created your rescue media, it might be an idea to create a new one (or so I've heard) - not an expert here.

Rescue media is your lifeline I update and test mine every time MR update the program. A newer rescue media can open older imaged files Newer images can't always be open with older rescue media.

Whatever, @ImLost should create an image. He has nothing to lose by doing so.

I don't doubt that. Figured my routine would be when MR updates and/or when WU hits I'll make a new Image. Now i'll do Rescue when MR Updates. Thanks for the advice.

I got two of the Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1, 256 GB. Every time I've bought sticks, in no time they weren't big enough. This ought to do me for a while.

It's true that ImLost has nothing to lose by creating a system image backup but what he's looking for is a nice easy way to do so. He isn't experienced in the computer world other than just use his computer as he wants.
Even though there are excellent recommendations and comments, when he sees them he becomes confused.
@ImLost please do take a break as Bree mentioned but please do come back: you have hung in there this long.
Remind us if you feel the need to mention it with something like this "all I want to do is the issue at hand: create my first system image backup"

@ImLost ,on your first attempt to make an image backup, I would say you are not gonna have a great experience using a 64GB thumbdrive. It will take really long. If you can find a way to get yourself an external hard drive via USB 3.0 port, do so.

Bree - ?...you said first image good to have in case things get fouled up while doing the tweaking, so I don't have to start over by doing "reset".....but I just said how that first new-as-is image gets same results....(no tweaks./changes have been made yet).

COMPUTIAC - if question was for me......a SanDisk brand 3.0.

This is new computer - wondering why it doesn't look like it is latest w10 version from what I have seen.
Windows specs says version 1709 build 16299.547
System summary specs says version 10.0.16299 build 16299
I see others have version 1803 build 17134.191

***EDIT***.....didn't see prev coupla posts......again.....will be using regular 64gb usb.....if I even do this at all.
One more time.....looks to me like a first as-new image is same as the machine recov/reset. But recov/reset cannot keep all the changes/tweaks, so doing an image after the tweaks are done saves time/trouble if it screws up. Or I can do the tweaks, shtcuts, bkmks, etc, and hope nothing ever goes wrong (Ignatzatsonic only restored an image 2 or 3 times in 10yrs)
