Restarting system taking extremely long time

    Hello forum.

I purchased an all in one Desktop which is running windows 10 home. Because this was a display model, the salesperson told me I'd have to restart the system in order to delete all the stuff which had been installed while on display, various apps and software. So I started the restarting system pressing shift and the windows key to enter boot mode. But the restarting process is still stuck on 12% after 4 hours... Is this normal? I had read online it's usually around 2-4 hours for whole system to restart.

    Thank you.

Perhaps the assistant was trying to get you to do a Reset..

    - so you can see the sequence you might expect
    9. Resetting Windows 10 will now start. This will take a while to finish, and your PC will restart a few times during the process. (see screenshots below)
Given you have no idea how it's been configured for display purposes, and at a guess, the Windows build could be out of date, and that you have no personal data on it you'd be best to simply do a clean install and configure it as you want. No license key needed.

You will then delete all existing partitions as part of the process, and have nothing left of the shop configuration.

    Recommended:
Test the disk (e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel, HD Tune...)
    - and once stable, as soon as you can start using disk imaging routinely (Macrium Reflect (free) + large external storage for disk images).

Hi and thank you for your reply.

After 4 hours had past, stuck on 12%, suddenly it started to run smoothly and reached 100% within the next hour or so. So all went well.

    Thank you.

Great.. now, it's never too early to start using disk imaging routinely - this can save you needing technical help and days of frustration by allowing you to restore your PC or any imaged disk or partition to a previous working state. We urge all users to use this routinely. E.g. Macrium reflect (free) + large external storage.

And as your PC has been in use for a considerable period, to check your disk as a matter of routine.
