Avoid Windows search info into files when sorting

Hi, I love whern Windows is very simple and fast, sometime I really don't need "plus" that slow me down working.

One of them is when for example I would open a photo folder and open immediatly the most recent pictures. In very old windows this folder was opened very quickly as it can contain unknown files, and it was necessary to sort by date to have really fast response. Now every time it open that folder it takes minutes only to show files (**I have disabled already thumbnails!!**) and if I click on sort, double work. Really annoying.

I suppose that windows search inside the files jpg some info, and it does for eavery jpg file. How can I teach Windows "please consider jpg as unkow files, I don't need your extra services?"

Also, I would lovely that windows doesn't recognize any kind of file when it wants to look inside of it pretending find some datas, I don't need mp3 artist, I don't need movie infos, etc. And when I open a folder I would love that it display as usually the name, date of last modification, size.. **always**. I hate when I open a music folder and I need always to manually select date of last modification.

Thank you a lot for your kind help!

Hi, it's true some people have sometimes reported that opening very large folders of images takes time where thumbnails need to be generated.

It's unlikely that Windows search has anything to do with the speed of opening a folder, as the indexing is done once, and when complete, has no further overhead.

Given that, if you still do not want certain image types indexed, you can deselect them:

and if you don't wish certain folders to be indexed, again, you can deselect them:

Windows default Music folder has certain special properties (defined in desktop.ini).

If you simply create a folder somewhere else and put music files in it, you will not see the column headings you mention - e.g.

Thank you for your kind answer. Following your informations I disabled the windows seach service, so no indexing shuld be have place. Anyway nothing changes, Win10 is still read in the folder for different seconds, the hard disk is always active, I need to press the X to stop it.

If I scroll down the "search" (busy hard disk) take again place and I have to press again the X, when "searching" it is populating with a bit embarassing slownest, the time of file creation. I think it searches it inside every file, like EXIF data, that's why the disk is busy, I suppose.
If I open a folder of thousands of midi file all is fast, the disk is not busy. So why with jpg?

PS: when I write about "searching" I mean Windows does search for infos itself in the Disk, not me pretending to search a particular file, I'm just opening a folder with jpgs.

About the column headings, how can I consider your suggestion helpful? I need to create a folder, declare it "for any file" and move mp3 inside? ANd the next time the same?
I need a way to tell Windows to completely forget to recognize the files inside a folder and then declare it somehow, for music for example. I need to tell Windows to see any, any, any folder in the same way, with size, file creation time and type of file. How can I do it? It should be a way to stop Windows guessing itself how it should visualize a folder. Thank you a lot!

Hi, I note you mentioned jpg files/photos. Is it possible the Photos app is updating something related to Albums? Suggest you make sure any folder with images is not being processed by that.

I disabled the windows seach service, so no indexing shuld be have place.
Fine just for test purposes: as I said, when all is working properly, Windows search imposes no overhead when browsing folders, or indeed at any other time.

It would be helpful if you could have your task manager open and be ready to take a screenshot of it, then open a folder that causes this slow response, and post a screenshot of your task manager while that is happening.

No, checked it again after adding exception to antivirus, it's explorer.exe who uses disks and search something inside the jpg:
Myab there is any kind of software who installed something into windows to show infors of files? Or maybe it's a native Windows addon who pretending to do it?
